Why the Xbox release is great news for flight simming

Featured Replies

I agree, its good for this game genre that a title like MSFS has come out on console. I would even argue that its not just "casuals" who will play it on console.

The XBSX is essentially kind of a PC. It has PC components and runs a version of Windows10. You can hook up a keyboard, mouse and joystick. It is therefore quite possible to do "serious" flights while sitting at a desk with the XB hooked to a hi-rez 2K or 4K display.

As time progresses no doubt it will mature and addons will start to trickle in.

It is a brilliant machine because it brings within reach a very powerful system at an affordable price compared to a high end gaming PC.

Also it exposes more gamers to aviation - we need that!

Please substitute "players" and "game" with your own elite simmer terms by all means....

Honestly, I'm actually glad that Xbox users are the majority now.  Might knock the sim snobs down a peg or two.

Each update unfortunately is turning what was starting to finally look like a fine flight simulator is getting back into a glorified google earth viewing platform.

For elite simmers like myself (yes we have the gold medal awards to prove our superior status in the simming community), MSFS will never be taken seriously if that happens.
