Just a fast, simple comment regarding P3D v5.2HF1

Recommended Posts

...ever since the RTM of FSX, there has never in all the ensuing years been a version of Microsoft Flight Sim (legacy) whether under the banner of FSX, or P3D, that has been such a major advance in performance, in smoothness, in FPS generation, in clarity and crispness of the synthetic  ground textures that they have always used.  Not one, before P3D v5.2 (and HF1) was released.  I have a ten year old 4 core CPU,  that tangles with an EVGA GTX 1070 F(or) T(he) W(in) version  8GB's,  and produces now, dead smooth, stutter free, advancement over terrain, no terrain popping, and I have the sim slider full open, except for LOD at High, and Shadows at High, not whatever the furthers to the right is called...

This is the best version of the legacy code I have ever had the pleasure to run.  In fact,  there are now so many graphic assets that I always had, within Orbx titles, but because of my sim going to a rendition of flying over Spray Paint, I never could see them, less enjoy them.  Now, with this version of P3D, NEVER does the ground terrain, or any graphic, artistic, asset, devolve to jags and blurriness.  I finally got rid of the Spray Paint Gremlin, that has plagued me since FSX RTM!

One word to describe P3D v5.2HF1...and that word is "fabulous"!

With all the noise in the MSFS forum, I think people have moved on or don't realize what they are missing in Prepar3d.  I also have the same experience.  I bought MSFS2020 but have never been able to enjoy it the way I wanted to.  Graphics are cool but having AI, Smooth flying, PMDG, Airbus that works can't be understated.

Agree!! I will have a look at the MS brand X in another year or two when their forum dumpster fire has  been put out but for now....never enjoyed a flight sim as much as the current P3d Version. Shields Up...Battle stations.....They will be coming for us!! LOL!!

Agree. But for me, I experience FPS loss with EA on in 5.2. I had more fluent experience with ea on in 5.1. It was like more load was sent to GPU in 5.1.
Anyway I am happy user of P3d v 5.2 🙂

Totally agreed.  I keep trying MSFS (tried again with new update CTD 3 of 4 tries) and really want to like it but the experience is not even close to the FSL, MJCQ400, PMDG with AI and proatc or using Vatsim.

I have my FPS locked outside P3D in the nVidia set up mask, and with E.A. on, but with 2D Legacy clouds in play, and the latetst ASP3D  I keep at 29-to my locked 33 FPS with absolutely RAZOR sharp ground terrain,  roadways and clover leaf's perfectly formed, and all this at speeds of 120 knots and as low as 500 feet ground sweeping to my normal G.A. cruise of 3,500 asl.   Try  setting your internal to 120 FPS, and lock down with nVidia at 33 (important that 33 and not 30). Try that, and see how that goes.  I think you will like the performance for the change up.

MS pulled off a master stroke getting simmers to pay for a Beta full price then more testers to get it too XBOX the real goal for Phil Spencer and Game Pass.

What is the $ cost to get to get from P3D v4.5 Academic, to PD v5.2HF1 Academic?

T45

(Figured that out. I should have asked what steps I need to take to get to v5.2HF1.

Buy/load v5,0, then load v5.2HF1?

Will that work?)

$59.95 -- and you can run both sims on the same machine as I do.  4.5 HF3 is a stable final release, and v5.x is still in development with some associated growing pains.

A closed chapter for me.

If you buy P3Dv5 now, you'll get the latest version (v5.2 HF1).  You do a full install with that.

No need to mess with any earlier versions, even if you could get them.  LM makes the earlier client modules available for those needing to backtrack...but it's *only* the client module, which wouldn't do you any good in any case.

The only regret (as opposite to "complaint") I have is that VolClounds are still unrealistic in depicting weather conditions. Meanwhile, with EA=on and VolC=off I'm getting a very good representation of weather.

Yep...the next few weeks and months are going to prove very trying for non-xbox users I suspect. I am sure most of the MS resources are busy getting X-Box ready for Santa Claus and for now the desktop users are not going to get much Love. Well ....as many of us have learned the hard way when MS sticks it to you then you have been diddled by some real professionals.

OK, guys, let's not turn this into a Simzilla bashing session.  We can celebrate what we have without pouring salt in their wounds.
