Slow joystick panning

Recommended Posts

I've read elsewhere on this board that adjusting the pan rate in VC mode will dictate how quickly the joystick button will pan. I've set mine to 900 yet it seems to start slowly, then it gradually gathers speed. I've set up some new camera views and can't duplicate the panning speed I have in the default VC view. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

You are adjusting them in the cameras.cfg in your drive:/Documents & Settings/User/Application Data/Microsoft/FSX location vs the on e in the FSX directory right? Then here in the file:[CameraDefinition.002]Title = Virtual CockpitGuid = {C95EAB58-9E4A-4E2A-A34C-D8D9D948F078}Description = This is the description of the virtual cockpit view.Origin = Virtual CockpitMomentumEffect = YesSnapPbhAdjust = SwivelSnapPbhReturn = FalsePanPbhAdjust = SwivelPanPbhReturn = FalseTrack = NoneShowAxis = YESAllowZoom = TRUEInitialZoom = 0.9SmoothZoomTime = 2.0ZoomPanScalar = 1.0ShowWeather = YesXyzAdjust = TRUEShowLensFlare= FALSECategory = CockpitPitchPanRate=30 --------- This oneHeadingPanRate=45 -------- and this one.PanAcceleratorTime=0HotKeySelect=1900? thats seems pretty high. Above was what I weaked mine to so the vertical and horizontal were roughly the same speed.Regards'GarettEDIT- "I've set up some new camera views and can't duplicate the panning speed I have in the default VC view. "Sorry didn't see that part so your adjusting for specific AC in the aircraft.cfg. Have you added both those lines to your new camera setting?

I did create new camera views within the VC and assigned the PitchPanRate and HeadingPanRate, both at 900. After reading your post, I changed them to the 30 and 45 but also added the PanAcceleratorTime=0 and now all is fine. Works great. I guess my pan values were set too high. Thanks Garett for getting me on track.

curt, couple of additional comments...The 900 used in FS9 represented ( I suspect ), 90.0 degrees per second, the same as 90 in FSX would. Each Camera can be set independently, and you can add those parameters to a camera that doesn't have them, if it is a pan-able camera. Tower view, for instance, doesn't have the parameters by default but if you want to enable the pan-in-tower feature you may want also want to specify the pan speed.Loyd
