Regarding Your Feedback + Upcoming Hotfix

I'm personally thrilled about the overexposure, altitude and ground texture at high altitude fix. The only other thing that really bothers me now are the new "TIMECRUIZ and TIMECLIMB" waypoints added automatically to VFR flight plans that the autopilot insists on following. But I'm honestly super excited for this update, to the point that I think I'll take a break until it is released!

XD, I even managed to get flightplans imported with the GTN750 mod to skip that without making a world out of it. It is such an stupid feature they added that I can´t undertand why.

The amount of apparent martyrdom complex here from some folks is a bit perverse.  What I saw a lot of over the past few days was many people on both sides of the debate sharing their own personal experiences and perceptions, but any who were directly telling the complainers or the supporters "no, you are absolutely wrong and making things up" were by far in the minority.  There, but a minority, and it was present in both directions.   (And, no, someone responding to "everything looks like garbage" with "this is what I'm seeing, it looks fine to me" is not "gaslighting" you, and the way that term is often thrown about here is, frankly, kinda gross.)

What I also saw a lot of was the constant internet phenomenon of the loudest voices being the most negative ones, and people naturally using that and their own (often willful) confirmation bias to extrapolate that the situation was a lot worse than it was.  There was also a lot of elitism from a fair sized handful of folks who could not miss any possible opportunity to express their disdain for the XBox and "gamers", and a lot of associated speculation about intentional nerfing of various parts of the sim for the benefit of XBox which is already looking kinda foolish given today's announcement.

And the idea that the paroxysm of angst and outrage that's overtaken the forum for the past week is to be lauded because "it got things done" is inane.  There are ways to raise these issues, and to lobby for action to be taken on them, that don't involve the massive outpouring of ill will that has been evident here recently.   Saying "Look at me, I threw a hissy fit, insulted the developers, insulted XBox users, attacked folks who disagreed with me, and generally made a behind of myself, and because of that things are better, give me an award"...   well.   I could come up with any number of analogies, but I think the point is already clear to anyone who wishes to see it.

You were heard.  A fix is coming.  You're neither a martyr nor a hero: you're a digital pilot with a greater or lesser degree of patience, understanding, reasoning, and politeness.  The more of those you can demonstrate, the better, as in all of life.   And that's referring to both the prior week and the days to come.

Finger, toes, legs, and eyes are all crossed hoping one of the unmentioned 'fixes' is bringing back informative tool tips on legacy, eg. % of throttle or numbers on AP knobs.

Though everything hasn't been all bad. With the downtime, finally got around to 'installing' addon linker and getting all addons into a usable folder structure.

I don't really like the vagueness regarding the CTDs to be honest.

I was kind of hoping that would be a major objective of the hotfix. We'll see what the hotfix release notes have to say. Try it out and hope for the best. I had zero issue with CTDs before SU5. Very random, but ~75% of flights end in CTD.

Well am really grateful for this communication and the upcoming hotfixes - thanks Asobo!

It is reassuring that they have seen exactly the same as what us 'whingers and cry-babies' have seen, and once again, like the tree LOD problems we were told we were wrong about, Asobo have recognised the issues and they intend to fix them - superb!

I am particularly pleased about the environmental lighting issue being recognised.

I am starting to see that it is the gaslighters that are the most toxic to this forum.  It is obvious they hate it when the 'complainers' are proven right and get responded to by Asobo, and they still cannot stop arguing around in circles to try to recover some self asteem.  It is they who are the children.  I feel sorry for them.

On another note, so is Elvis dead or alive then?  Sorry, that may have been a other thread.

Quote just a couple of those "superwhinnerhater" posts in AVSIM in the last two days. Then I i will buy your martyr stuff. Otherwise it seems like a generalization,  taken from somewhere else to reinforce your point of view and neglect the fact that many "whinners", in fact, pointed out the obvious needed changes, asked for them loud and made themselves heard somehow. We all might be guilty of hyperventilation and frustration management, but your statement looks like a hyperbole. We appreciate all your work with the sim, don´t get me wrong, it´s hard to be working under this toxic environment, but whinners are not all made equal, XD.

I was one of those who complained about these bugs - and we got attacked by people saying they didn't exist.

Some of us thought it was because Asobo didn't have the resources to run two simulators, and because of an approaching deadline they rushed out this SU5. Others thought maybe they were dumbing down the PC version intentionally.

Now I am one of those who praise this hotfix and I'm really looking forward to it - and then we get attacked by the same people who denied there was any issue to begin with - because it turned out to be, deadlines, not enough bug fixing, and likely not intentional.

I am so glad I've put certain people on ignore list.

Patience, perspective, kindness towards the people working so hard do deliver you the entertainment and escapism you crave. These things seem to be sorely lacking from too many in the flight sim community, rather sad to see when you would expect greater maturity.

Folks...the bottom line for me, is that I just hope the coming Hot Fix addresses all the elements that had many people seeing a less than user experience if comparing to SU4. That's all I hope for...

Me too. Like you do. You just bring bitterness to a thread which was fun just to assert selfishly that you were right in calling other simmers foolish. Really nice. Really, really nice.  Outstanding.

Me, I have issues with people that cannot have a fair discussion without calling out people foolish. Weird, isn't it ? We had the technical director of ASobo few days ago who has explained us for 15 minutes that they did a deep work of trimming to adapt the code to the lower tier Xbox. They also said on other occasions that the PC/Xbox code were the same.  It is reasonable to infer that some of what we have seen in SU5 came in the process.

Inference is not evidence of course and it is still an open question. But it seems you prefer invective to  discussion.

Do not put words in my mouth. Saying someone will end up LOOKING foolish is not the same as saying they ARE foolish. I do not know these people personally and I was speaking to something very specific anyway. You have brought up what Lionel said again but you can refer to what I said earlier since you have not made a new or better point. If you want to be obtuse and act like people weren't doing a lot more than inferring where the Xbox downgrade was concerned, that is up to you. You take issue with the supposed bitterness I am bringing to the thread but I hope you were one of the people working to sweeten the bitterness of people asserting without a shadow of a doubt that we were facing a xboxdowngrade-gate scandal.

There were some of those, my favorite was the conspiracy theories. The problem I'm guessing is some people were having bandwidth issues right after the patch so it was making it look worse than it really was. I know I was having issues trying to decide how much of it was really bandwidth. Just for the record, I think the worst thing I ever said about Asobo in these forums is that the average work week in France is only 35 hours (that was a joke)... Beyond that, I have been critical of some practices that keep breaking DEV mode, but I rarely mention them directly.

There is a lot of drama in here. I somehow managed to not ignore anyone, though I probably should have. At the very least, it was entertaining, kind of in the same way a horror movie is entertaining.

Frankly, I seriously doubt that will happen. Probably a few "low hanging fruit" fixes will be in the next Hot Fix, but I wouldn't expect too much. They don't have much time to look into too many things, frankly.

But even your thoughts are merely speculative.

I agree with almost everything you say, except for this.   Given that we (meaning me and the rest of Working Title) work closely with the developers at Asobo, and have multiple weekly meetings with senior folks from both them and Microsoft, up to and including Jorg himself...  it's better to call me a liar than call that speculation, IMO.  Unless you're getting deeply into philosophical arguments about what can or cannot truly be known, in which case... carry on, I love a discussion like that, even if this is an odd place for it. 🙂

So does this mean all those who flew back to xplane will now fly back to msfs?
