August 8, 20214 yr I contacted an Xbox guru, who finally answered my question(s) regarding whether you could access and use internet 3rP and such sites as Flightto. NOPE...the only 3rP you can get is from the M.S. store...so only what you see on your P.C. is available to Xbox Console users. Fatal revelation. If that will change, then I will be interested...but not to have access to all the great 3 million GB's of Community Folder downloads...is a 'no joy'. So, somebody else can have my pre-ordered unit, and I of course had it cancelled on the hold purchase on my C.C. No problem there as well. So...if you don't care about adding anything from the Net freeware, coffee-ware, payware...Xbox is still an option. That proved fatal to my further interest. Things can change...and if they do, that sentiment will change as well. Edited August 8, 20214 yr by Sesquashtoo big fat fingers typo's...

August 8, 20214 yr Xbox were sold for a long while at cost. The Xbox hardware is not really a profit making item in and of itself. It is a way to funnel purchasers into the MS online ecosystem to extract money for content.

I thought for sure I would be able to create a Community Folder, and then download to the Xbox from the Net. Nobody seemed when I asked to want to answer that query. I can see why now, lol. As you say...only from their on-line in game store. Glad I found that out,...before having taken delivery of it... Edited August 8, 20214 yr by Sesquashtoo

August 8, 20214 yr Xbox has never ever been available to "download from the net". Neither has Play Station, Nintendo, Sega, etc. In fact, Xbox didn't even allow any mods (only DLC) until a few years ago and then only mods they test, approve and make available through them. To think otherwise you have no understanding of what the Xbox is. Edited August 8, 20214 yr by Phantoms James

August 8, 20214 yr They plan on opening the marketplace to freeware developers in the future. But yeah it won't be like downloading from the web. Some developers have allowed modding in the past. For example Unreal Tournament 3 for the X-Box 360 allowed you put mods on a flash drive, plug it into the system and load them that way. Bethesda's Fallout 4 and Elder Scrolls Skyrim Special Edition have a site where modders can upload their mods and then players can download the mods to their console/pc from within the game itself, similar to MSFS's marketplace. It's all up to the developer to implement the ability. Edited August 8, 20214 yr by Tuskin38

Bethesda's Fallout 4 and Elder Scrolls Skyrim for the XB-1 have a online mod repository that you can download mods from to your console. (also PC) It's up to the developer. I see. I had merely 'presumed' that I could create a Community Folder on the internal hard disk, and carry on, or USB stick my entire P.C. community folder contents to it. Glad I found out, before hand. So, for myself, it's back to enjoying on the present system, and to plan at some time for a full upgrade in the future. If you can only address the Net from the P.C. ecosystem....then so be it for me.

No mods with scripts, etc. And it still has to work within what the console will allow. Farming Simulator is one with a ton of user created mods, but they still have to go through farming simulator and Xbox before they're available on Xbox. There are probably 100 to 1000 times as many mods for the PC than those that meet the strict requirements to be available on console. Edited August 8, 20214 yr by Phantoms James

This is most valuable information to know...and for others that might also want to replace their P.C. flight sim usage with the Xbox. I certainly never knew all these restrictions on the day I ordered one. Now, much more knowledgeable (thanks to all your posts) on the matter. So, back to looking to update my P.C. system when warranted. Edited August 9, 20214 yr by Sesquashtoo

So, back to looking to update my P.C. system when warranted. Xbox does have it's place. If you want something that simply works for gaming, that's were it shines. It also has mods that have been tested not to crash the system, less cheating in multiplayer, etc. For the pluses that Xbox provides you have to give up a lot of the customization that's available with a PC. With a PC you can do so much more. But it's also much easier to corrupt or crash a game, have multiplayer with cheaters, etc. Not to mention the cost of a good PC vs. Xbox.
