Random stutters/pauses after takeoff, during cruise, etc.

Featured Replies

I've had this issue for ages.  I seem to think that it's related to the game syncing up online, as more than a few times my stutters are followed by a reloading of all other multiplayer aircraft.

It is quite frustrating as I didn't have this problem before HF2. If you run dev mode, watch what happens to MainThread and CoherentGTDraw- on my system frametimes shoot up to over 1000ms and the sim pretty much freezes and then in a couple of seconds back to normal like nothing happened. Some of these events are longer lasting than others and it does feel like the sim is going to crash.

Had the same experience, a long pause and some stutters and the FBW A320 (dev) frantically wanting to climb but was at cruising alt already. Shortly after I had recovered from that it happened again and the plane went up to 40K ft in no time (and was about to stall). That made me suspect it had to do with a spike in the weather. Not the one Asobo fixed as I have not encountered that jump in temperature anymore thus far. On decent all was ok. So I suspect the weatherfile. But indeed, quite an immersion killer.

I'll relate my recent experience and see if it rings a bell for anyone.

Over the last two days I kept having complete lock-ups where the only out is Task Manager, End task. Y'all been there?

A process of elimination led me to Malwarebytes sticking it's oar in where it's not wanted. A quick Google showed that updating MWBs cleared up the problem immediately. I also made it ignore the whole of the MFS folder as well.

I reckon MFS doesn't take kindly to sharing a PC with other stuff. Unlike XBOX where it has it all to itself.

I also tried turning off all online functionality and still the issue. Its really a Asobo issue that I hope gets addressed.

This is different from mine and I always did recover after, say, a few seconds (let's say, so far). Thus I would separate your case from what most observe in this thread, i.e. a long-lasting, but recoverable stall.

Besides, I should mention that my sim is really smooth outside these short stall sequences.

For the record: I am using Process Lasso.

Kind regards, Michael

Only thing I'm running from this list is logitech ghub. I also turn off my av software when I'm flying. Never had any stutters or pauses

Its a mystery why some have it and others don't. I have friends with similar systems and they don't get it but I also have friends that do.

For what it's worth, ClearedTakeoff, a Twitch streamer, was getting like 3 second or longer stutters after SU5.  Then he emptied his Community folder and tested again.  The stutters disappeared when he emptied . It was some add-on that was causing the stutters.  For whatever reason, in SU4, the add-ons did not cause stutters.  But after SU5, one or more of his add-ons started causing stutters.

If a specific location is causing you these long stutters when you fly, then backup (or rename) your Community folder, and test with an empty Community folder.  It's possible that even some add-ons from the MSFS marketplace may cause this because they have not been updated to be compatible with SU5.

This is not the case with this issue. This happens no matter what you have or don't have. I can fly in a vanilla low settings sim using just keyboard and mouse no other things hooked up and the issue is still there even on a fresh install. This is a ASOBO issue that effects some. I can fly on my older system and I don't have this issue. It seems that newer systems are more prone to this issue.

I doubt it will help you guys, but I have no more long pauses since I've removed Global AI Ship Traffic from the Community folder.
Folders are called GAIST_MSFS_V1 and gaist_msfs_v1_CVT_ if you have installed Henrik Nielsen's (excellent) mod.

The stuttering caused by that mod will eventually stop once all the ships have been converted to the new format. I stupidly deleted it when trying to eliminate issues caused by SU5 and now have go through it all again.

David, I can't thank you enough...

For getting rid of that irritating avatar! Bless you.

This used to happen to me after SU3 I believe.

I don't have it now with SU5 + HF1 + HF2. Only minor stutters when looking in certain directions, but nothing too bad.

Have you guys tried deleting rolling cache?
