New windows 10 updates & Game Mode fix

Recommended Posts

Microsoft has published several new cumulative updates (KB5005033 & KB5005031) for recent versions of Windows 10 today.

I could confirm ( at least on my setup) with Game Mode ON i had 6 to 8 fps increase on MSFS

What are the benefits of having Windows Game Mode on? Mine has been off. Will I get better performance now with it enabled?

I don't use any power plans, so Game mode stays off on my PC, and I hate Windows updates, they almost never work without download and installation problems.

Also curious to what the true benefit of Game Mode will he to the sim. My desktop power plan is set to max performance 100% of the time. Not great for global warming but it is pretty much only a MSFS PC.

I might be crazy but I think this may have actually helped. I had to manually install update 211H, it was listed as optional. No way to go back to test if it really did help though.

I always had Game Mode ON but I also noticed I have 4 or 5 FPS more today compared to yesterday, and the only thing I installed was the Windows update. So, it's possible that what they fixed helped a bit.

Well should make no difference for those of us who have always used maximum performance in our plans anyways.

Do you guys know there's Ultimate Performance power plan? It also fixes clock issues with "lots-of-cores" CPUs on some systems

Why don't you try it? Are you going to have that doubt forever?

I have an AMD 5800x and I saw that the Balanced plan was recommended. However I wonder if Ultimate could actually make a difference.
