August 22, 20214 yr When they let CaptainSim sell their "airplanes" in the Marketplace....it was a clear sign that they care nothing of deceitful and horrible vendors selling in their store. Won't touch the MP for that fact alone. Say nothing of how long it takes for them to put in updates from "reputable" vendors...still waiting for my Mooney updates from the SU5 break (and waiting, and waiting, and waiting) Regards, Steve DraGet my paints for MSFS planes at flightsim.to here, and iFly 737s hereDownload my FSX, P3D paints at Avsim by clicking here

They obviously do not care about the quality of the items in the Marketplace, evidenced by the CaptainSim sham, so why pretend they care about the quality of the updates to those items? Just push the update when it comes in from the developer and call it a day. PC: I9-10900K, RXT 3090, 64GB RAM, 3840x1080 49" super-ultrawide

Yeah.....this part about the MP update frequency we can't blame on Carenado, but not sure how they coulda' signed an exclusivity contract with MS to have the ONLY update pathway thru them. That is something they should have never done, and only proves the obtuse nature of their interest on updating and supporting their previous releases. They seem to be (and always have been) an aircraft assembly line, not halting it for any cause, even to update broken, previous models off the line. This is a case where it truly "is what it is", will never change, and I'm done complaining about it....but I will bring it up in every new conversation regarding the MP, in case we have new simmers who don't know why the old simmers seem to have such an issue with it. We can't assume that every simmer knows, and when they see the beautiful new Carenado models and want to jump to buy, they may want to know that it'll only work until the next MS/Asobo update, then will be broken in the following weeks it takes for the fix to make it to the MP. I bide my time by flying other, fantastic planes like the DC-6. 🙂 Regards, Steve DraGet my paints for MSFS planes at flightsim.to here, and iFly 737s hereDownload my FSX, P3D paints at Avsim by clicking here

Been flying AND painting it....A few paints I've done so far (she is really a fantastic plane, and the PMDG Ops Center with it's auto-updates is the smoothest fix transition tool of ANY dev at the moment....notifies you when there is a fix....press a button, and its done.) If she EVER comes out on the MP....I would HIGHLY discourage any simmer from buying her there as they'd probably lose the functionality of the PMDG Ops Center (like CaptainTrash found out with their "ACE" app that MS would not let them include with their 777. Now 777 customers, who want to install liveries if they bought from it from the MP, have to do it in the exact way CS tried as hard as they could to nullify by threatening to sue flightsim.to and trashing 3rd party painter's work on their livery webpage. What a joke and disgrace they are to quality devs in our community) Regards, Steve DraGet my paints for MSFS planes at flightsim.to here, and iFly 737s hereDownload my FSX, P3D paints at Avsim by clicking here
August 23, 20214 yr Just to be clear the reason for updates being slower on the marketplace is a combination of: that MS need to check the update, though NOT for quality or faults, it is being checked for compliance with marketplace rules such as no weapons or gunsights, that the marketplace thumbnail is up to scratch, that the update does not offer multiple install options that might mess with content manager etc the earliest the patch once checked can be made available is the next scheduled weekly update Sooo, even if MS were able to check and approve an update instantly there will be a delay of up to 6 days before the update is available to marketplace users compared to the rest of us because they are only scheduled once a week. This is just built in to the system and unavoidable if they stick to that weekly system. What does not help is approval is not instant it can take several days, often meaning the update misses the next weekly scheduled date and ends up in the following week. Hence your average delay for an update hitting the marketplace after the developer has made it available elsewhere is probably 9 or 10 days just because of how the system works. To compound matters, if an update is sent back due to some infraction of the marketplace rules (and these seem to change without notice) it has to be resubmitted and go back through the checking process before finally making it through to one of the scheduled updates some time down the track. There have been cases of some updates taking a month to hit the marketplace after they were first submitted and available elsewhere due to issues like this. Note that there are probably good reasons (practical, legal etc) for MS to have the system they do, but it does have an effect. One other negative effect of this system is it discourages rolling hotfixes and mini updates. As a case in point the developers of the C140 rolled out 4 or so daily hotfixes in the first week fixing problems on the fly as they arose, in some cases fixing new issues introduced by the MS SU5 hotfixes the very next day. This would not be possible if the aircraft was on the marketplace. Edited August 23, 20214 yr by Glenn Fitzpatrick
