I'll trade my 1000.00 dollar camera for a cheap throw away digital anyday. This stupid camera is giving me fits. Does anyone know how to reset this thing to its default automatic settings? Thanks. I hate this camera.

Jeff, Take a DEEP BREATH! :)I have a Nikon D50, so I am not so sure that I can help. However, there is a reset to "defaults" in the menu settings. If you get really desparate, there is a "master" reset button buried on the bottom of the D50 and I assume the same for the Sony that will set everything back to factory default. Bottom line, RTFM.... :-lol

Tom,Thanks, but I've read the manual from top to bottom. There is no reset in the menu. I've had the camera for about what 2 years now.I don't know where there "hard boot" is...lol.Anyways, I'll ship for free...ROFL.

I hate this camera.I don't have this camera, but being the nice guy I am :) I looked it up in Sony support website and there is a reset button (The kind you need a pin to reset) inside the Battery/memory stick housing, that should put you back to Factory defaults!!. God luck!! http://esupport.sony.com/perl/model-documents.pl?mdl=DSCF717

Thanks

Thank you! I did find it though and tried it.I think there's actually something wrong with the camera now.The pics have a white filter with lines across them.I'm not sure what to do. The video portion of the camera seems to work.Sorry about the delayed response, I was Tornado Chasing a few minutes ago. :-)

We're all done now. Sean Wilsom from Blown Away Tours (http://www.blownawaytours.us) got some good footage from earlier today when the storm was west of us.The footage should appear on the KSHB web site in the next day. http://www.nbcactionnews.com/kshb/weather/...HB_9437,00.html We had a small one jumping up and down over the house here tracking north east but nothing major and no damage. I did managed to punch the hail core on the back side of the cell near KCI. That was fun! LOL What was impressive is that same HP Supercell was still dropping tornados east of us past 10p. We're setting up for the same scenerio by the middle of next week. :-)For those that are interested I've set up a severe weather forum on our site also.

That's a great camera, but I don't have the answer to your problem with the lines. I've not experienced that with mine.If you remember Jeff Snyder (who used to post a lot here), he has a bunch of photos at airliners.net that he took with his 717.Darrell

Thanks Darrell,I think I may have an actual problem with the camera. I've reset it, even took the battery all the way out and it's still giving me a white hue with lines in the pic.The video portion works just fine, so I'm not real sure what I did to it...lol.
