I’m struggling these days…

From what I can remember, I could run FSX back in 2014 with 8xS AA and 4x SGSS AA enabled.....and it was a better solution than anything that I have seen in P3D to date.

Not at 4k hahaha, or did you have a time travel device to run a 3090 back then? 😉

I have tried everything 4k 4xssaa.with 4xsparse grid to 8 x.2k

Shimmering/ jaggies  of light poles taxi lines runway lines in distance is horrific.

I believe it’s P3d engine itself?

Back to the OP's issue, given that it's happening on takeoff roll, it should be relatively easy to do some troubleshooting.

I'd start by turning off the usual cast of suspects--road traffic, AI traffic, weather, dynamic lighting, cloud shadows, high levels of autogen, high LOD radius etc, and see if you can reproduce it, adding one at a time back in if you don't.  If it still keeps happening with things turned off, then try another airport and see if it's related to that specific scenery.

Unless you list your hardware, resolution and refresh rate (sig is a good place) no one can really help you. If the problem was inherent in the P3D engine many more people would be seeing the issue.

I was referring to the quality of the AA in FSX. It was better than P3D has ever been.

@mikeymike, bear in mind you’ve jumped in on someone else’s post with a different problem to his.

Your hardware and refresh rates are okay. Resolution might be the problem but yours is a subjective problem. Someone else may not perceive it as a problem.

Don't mix AA settings inside and outside P3D. Stop using Nvidia Inspector. It’s not designed for v5. Just try the in-sim AA settings and see which is the best.

Put your specs in your signature. This topic will soon disappear together with your specs.

Hello to the folks who choose to listen.

I have been flightsimming since was 8 years old. I’m 32 now. It met my love for aviation and my motivation to be an airline pilot alive all through the years and through me earning all my required ratings and certificates. I even continued to flight sim through my regional pilot career.

I started with fs98 and have gone all the way through to the newest msfs only using p3d v2-4.5. I have had such great flights and memories of all these sims.

However, these days, I’m struggling. I put p3d to the side when msfs came along and I hadn’t picked it up since. Until SU5 came out for msfs. Yes, great performance was had….until one would pan around and then it became a stuttering mess. FPS would drop by more then half and the frame times were horrible.

Yesterday, I decided to install p3d v5 hf2 along with all the pmdg birds, fslabs and the maddog. I installed the flight beam and fsdt sceneries as well as active sky. I repurchased my navigraph subscription because I was so excited to see what v5 was all about.

I fired up the sim to do a quick hop from DFW to IAH in the newer NG3. I tell you what! The performance was awesome! So smooth, no stutters….while I was parked at the gate. The taxi out was so nice. I was truly happy. I could forgo the dates graphics compared to msfs. However, the sim still looked darn good!

things were going so well until I started my takeoff roll, at that point my fps would go from 40s and 50s to 20s every 2 seconds. Because of this, there was stuttering galore.

At this point, I’m starting to lose faith in this hobby. Something so fun and so rewarding is now a word not allowed to deal with….on both titles!

long story short, my p3d v5 hf2 is stuttering like crazy every 2 seconds or so and the experience is abysmal as a result. I want to get back into p3d. Will someone please help?

stats:

8700k OCed to 5.0

rtx 3070 running 1440p g-sync

32gb of ram at 3200mhz

its on a hdd with plenty of extra space.

running w10 fresh install with only msfs, p3d and a tiny handful of other steam games.

I've resolved this problem more than a month ago by completely removing anything to do with P3D. I primarily use MSFS now. AND honestly, I spent so much time configuring and an trying to keep P3dv5 stable since it was released, not EVER completing a single flight, that I just had to get rid of it. P3dv4.5 was great! P3dv5+ has potential but just isn't quite there yet. I will save one of my drives just in case things get better,,,,perhaps in a year or so. But for now, its MSFS!

And no offence to anyone I am an MSFS user too but this is a  P3D forum with a P3D user having issues with p3D.  To tell them the solution is MSFS is not appropriate.  To come in just to say how MSFS fixed your P3D issues is inappropriate.  How would people react if when there were issues with MSFS all the P3D users came running over to tell people that P3D is the "cure" for their MSFS issues.

This is why threads go south.

Have a Wonderful Day

I’ve hidden a post and the reply that mentioned events in Afghanistan. Not relevant to flight sim. No further mention of this please.

Are we really going down the route of suggesting that people will not be able to post in the P3D forum if they have uninstalled it?
