September 4, 20214 yr Henrik Nielsen plans on releasing Version 2 of his AI shipping mod this Saturday! Version 1 of his mod is a legacy mod from prior versions of the MS flight sim. With Version 2, Henrik and his team have rebuilt those models from the ground up in MSFS native model and texture format. Look for around 700 MSFS native ships in his first V2 release. Below I've pasted some quick quotes from Henrik. I asked him what research vessels he's converted so far. Someone thanked him and asked who had volunteered to help. Then he explains how many ships are in the first release, and about his upcoming plans. Lastly, this initial V2 release will be release without smoke or wake effects. Henrik would have to add them to each model individually, and it would delay the release of V2. FYI, when the sim loaded the old V1 ships it would create a CVT folder and then it would convert some of the old files in real time as that particular legacy model loaded. It caused stuttering. I've beta tested part of V2 for the last week, and the ships look incredible while having not noticeable performance delta on my system. Quote hnielsen791Trusted Forum 3rd Party Dev Yes, and V1 will be replaced by V2 with native models updated to work tomorrow as you can read above; even if the file on flightsim.to says that the V1 works in SU5 it is not so, but when I change it others “upvote” and say that it works… So download the new tomorrow night instead… \ SOURCE:https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/global-ai-ship-traffic-v1-for-msfs/368369/1090 ---------------- Research vessels- Calypso (France), Galathea (Denmark); Hesperides (Spain); and Marion Dufresne (France) Greenpeace, Arctic Sunrise ----------------- Thanks:D Knud who is retired haven’t had many hours idle since we started the conversion, I have spent almost all my leisure hours; Lagaffe has taken his share with the effects; Walter is working creatively on the next upgrade version already;… And again even if not all the old designers and contributors are involved at the moment - some simply got tired of the challenges of having to constantly go back to upgrade to new requirements and tools - they all have an important role in having created all these models and make them available for all to use for free. ------------------ We expect the quick fix WITHOUT effects to be launched publicly on Saturday - probably with around 650-700 different ships in native format and global coverage. And then continue with updates every second week in the coming months successively transferring first the next around 700 ships to native format and then implement wakes, smoke… etc… ------------------ Simple answer. No, not possible. It requires entering all model files and do further manipulation and it will only delay the project. Right now we want to launch the package ASAP to have users back with ships but without texture mix-ups, stuttering and other performance issues. Doing a temporary fix will require at least 100 additional man hours. HMS Duncan, the first of the Royal Navy ships to be carried over to native format Edited September 4, 20214 yr by Waldo Pepper
September 4, 20214 yr Author the Danish yacht Nordkaperen with updated PBR texturing Quote I was asked over on Avsim if I could do something about the Great Lakes. If there is interest I can do a quick fix to raise the ship traffic from the bottom of the Sea, but it will NOT be with Native models in the first place, no wakes, no fancy effects, but you can have ships on the Lakes. The reason for only doing a quick fix is that the reason the ships are at the bottom of the Lake is a bug, and I have no clue if Asobo will correct tomorrow or in a year, so I don’t want to invest many hours in this project.

September 4, 20214 yr Thanks, Waldo, Henrik is doing an amazing work for us, all for free. This must be a HUGE amount of work. I'll see if Flightsim.to has a donation button upon release. As far as I understood, they are compatible in the sense they don't clash, yes. However, the concepts are different, notably in the sense that Seafron'ts addons reuse a rather limited number of ships while Hendrik has an enourmous variety. Some reported they would complement with Seafront bringing life to regions where Hendrik's is more sparse I'm also not clear about the slider settings. Henrik suggests to set ship traffic low (6%, as far as I recall) while most users seem to set it to a high value for Seafront. I use them alternatingly right now, mostly Hendrik's (still version 1 ). Kind regards, Michael Seafront seems to have three concepts in play. 1) Vessels sold as scenery packs for specific locations, such as their Channel Islands and Anquilla/St. Martin/St. Barts packs. 2) Vessels sold in their global shipping packs, which replace Microsoft's models, but do not includer or alter routes like their "Vessels: Enhance AI". 3) Shipping routes which replace the default MSFS routes, and utilize the models from their "Vessels: Enhanced AI". I bought their Anquilla/St. Martin/St. Barts pack, and downloaded their freeware Channel Islands pack. I can see them having success in this area, with it's hand placed boats and yachts. However, I just can't see them competing with Henrik's work. I don't see how they can sustain their current business model with that respect.
