September 5, 20214 yr I just started using this plane less than a week ago. Unfortunately the acclaimed Heavy Divsion mod is not good post SU-5 as the most recent revision for that mod preceeded SU-5 by a week or two. So after initially trying the plane w/ the mod only to find too many broken basics, I decided to give the default 787-10 a test. I'm quite impressed, despite its shortcomings. When I compare against a flight done in the PMDG NGXu truthfully I can say they are shockingly comparable, really. Sure there are many missing details, but a lot of those don't come into play in the NGXu anyway, once you're configured the plane. Especially performance and while CAT III landings aren't quite dialed in well most everything works shockingly well in terms of the FMC and navigation. IOW, the basics are really quite effective including interior lighting. The sound package is lacking, but it's not that bad either. If you haven't give it the time of day give it a whirl you may be pleasantly surprised! Here we are coming into CYVR by FSDreamTeam. Note the main thread is only at 70% and GPU is coasting along despite RS at 120 and LOD 300. For reasons I don't appreciate once on the ground taxiing the sim was not maintaining solid 30FPS, but was bouncing around betwee 25 and 29, despite presumably lots of CPU/GPU headroom before reported in the OSD. I stopped and dialled back LOD to 150, and buildings/trees/bushes to High, and this DID NOT change the lower FPS which had been rock solid from KSFO all the way nearly to touchdown at CYVR thru thick cloud layers. Server access time was solid 44ms. September 5, 20214 yr This plane flies very well without any mods, i did a lot of flights with the 787 not using a mod and the basics are working pretty well what i have seen. A good useable Plane now compared to the beginning of MSFS - IMO ! The Heavy mod is under a overwork at the Moment but it`s possible to use it, there`s still a lot update stuff goeing on so to wait a bit is an appropriate option.. cheers 😉 08.2024 new PC is online : ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-F GAMING WIFI Mainboard, AMD Ryzen™ 9 7950X3D Prozessor, G.Skill DIMM 64 GB DDR5-6000 (2x 32 GB) Dual-Kit, MSI GeForce RTX 4090 VENTUS 3X E 24G OC Grafikkarte, 2x WD Black SN850X NVMe SSD 4 TB - Drive C+D, WD Gold Enterprise Class 12 TB for storage HDD, Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 1000W PC - Power supply, Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 EVO CPU Aircooler with 7 Heatpipes, Design Meshify 2 White TG Clear Tint Tower-Case, 3x 4K monitors 2x32 Samsung 1x27 LG 3840x2160, Windows11 Prof. 23H2 - now Windows11 Prof. 25H2 Flightsimulator Hardware: Honeycomb Throttle Bravo, Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, Logitech Flight Joke System, XBox Controller, some Thrustmaster stuff, Winwing CDU Panels.

September 5, 20214 yr She's a beauty. These two 787 skins have minor texture issues with the cockpit fire extinguisher, but they are so beautiful that I don't like to fly without them. There is an easy texture fix for them, https://flightsim.to/file/18430/787-su5-update-cockpit-fix https://flightsim.to/file/15163/boeing-787-10-olympic-airways-classic https://flightsim.to/file/15075/boeing-787-10-air-france-classic
September 5, 20214 yr Forgot to say one thing, for a while I used "MSFS Community Downloader" to download the HeavyD mod and keep it up to date. When 0.1.9 of the 78 mod was released, I updated it with that downloader. However, although the downloader showed the same version number as the github page, the version downloaded by the app was not the most recent version of 0.1.9 as found on the Github page (for some reason). So if anyone is using that downloader, might want to try the Github version. Edited September 5, 20214 yr by Waldo Pepper

Near as I can tell 0.1.9 unfortunately has more things broken that the current OEM version. Hopefully HD will update soon to SU-5. So the advise is: keep watching until the developer, Heavy Division, updates the modification to work properly with SU-5, or WU-6 as is coming soon. In the interim, the stock 787-10 in SU-5 works quite well w/o modification. September 5, 20214 yr The default 787 does do a lot of things reasonably convincingly, but - just as with the 747 - I find the lack of proper autothrottle behaviour on take-off (eg. TOGA mode) really frustrating. Neither plane can properly set the autothrottle to TOGA as per protocol. The AT physically cannot move the throttles on the ground. So you always have to set full throttle yourself (where the A/T) is tehnically off (not realistic) and then pick it up on climb. Even then though, the A/T seems to just track selected speed, rather than setting a fixed N1, where FLC or VNAV would then be used to pitch the aircraft to maintain a selected speed, against that fixed N1 value. TL:DR - The autothrottle is literally that from default FSX airliners.
