Water drop effect for aerial firefighting

Thought some of you guys might find this interesting.  Not sure if anything will ever come of it, or not.  But it's still interesting to see someone try and push the boundaries.

Pfffffttt!!! I mentioned fire fighting here before, pretty much got called a psychopath, and the thread was locked! 🙃

Apparently its one of the three things that mods don't like, including crash damage and military planes that actually shoot stuff.


We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

Not sure where you got that idea...there is no moderator guidance to stifle any of the topics you listed, provided they are approached in an appropriate manner.  Topics like crashing into buildings a la 9/11, shooting down airliners, etc are objectionable for reasons beyond just the generic topic like crash damage or shooting stuff.  Heck, we have an entire subforum devoted to DCS, which is a simulator designed around shooting stuff.

Cool. Lorby's firefighter add-on and using the Flight Replicas C-54 water-bomber with it, is one of the best things you can do in P3D. It's great fun.

It's simply that I've been here long enough to know with a high certainty what happens when certain subjects show up. There's a regular flow to how it goes, and honestly, at this point its pretty clear which things to avoid because the conclusion is so nearly inevitable.

That thread went on for 5 days and 9 pages, and was finally closed after it had devolved into back-and-forth rehash of the same opinions.  Characterizing the entire subject as verboten due to some sort of moderator aversion to the topic was disingenuous--and inaccurate.

There's no reason that the thread topic--aerial firefighting--can't be discussed here.

I think you might not know how many times the same thing has happened in the exact same way and ended the very same over the years. I actually had a veritable smorgasbord of examples on those three subjects, going back at least a decade.....

And those are just the ones I was silly enough to let myself get involved in, when one would think I would know better by now.

I tell you what effect I would love, moving trees. You could look at them to see wind direction etc…

They certainly used to (I haven't flown in high winds for ages). Unfortunately I remember seeing some trees where the centre of movement was above ground level, so the trees' pivoted part way up their trunks!

I think the moving "Speed Trees" are still part of the sim, but they require a super-expensive dev tool to include them in add-on sceneries, so they've been pretty much KIA by the economics.  Plus the colors, at least of the default ones, were this fluorescent light green that stuck out like a fire truck with its emergency lights on, so dynamic trees are one of the first things I turn off in a new P3D installation.
