Celestial Sightseeing

Wednesdays Flight is a much more serene affair compared to recent flights at Kodiak . We shall be cruising amongst the western part of the Tien Chan (celestial) mountain range (Celestial Mountains | NASA) . We shall depart from Tashkent in Uzbekistan from Yuzhny airport ( UTTT ) and climb East to 12000ft to our first stop at Kerben Airport ( UAKR ) in Kyrgyzstan . From here a short 50 mile leg East to Toktogul Airport ( UATO ) on the northern shore of Toktogul Reservoir. From here another 50 mile leg NE to Sosnovka Airport (UASV). This is a short runway for the DC-6, however,we are blessed with a long grass threshold to enable a successful takeoff. Next we travel North ,crossing the range, to land at Manas International ( UCFM ) at the capital Bishkek ( and hose off the grassy undercarriage). Next a short leg SE to Tokmok Airport ( UATK ). We now continue SE to Lake Issyk Kul (the second largest mountain lake in the world  view *behind Titicaca*) and land at Issyk Kul (UCFL) . After admiring the lakeside views we depart for our final leg N ( climbing to 16500ft ) to cross Tien Chan before descending to a 23R approach to Almaty International (UAAA) in Kazakhstan
