Oh no.. I miss the rhino.. 😉

I have yet to check out the new update due to uninstall and reinstall, but I really, really, REALLY, hoping they have retained the hippos hidden under the water in African rivers. I am also going to suggest that in the next SU6 we get some sharks swimming 150 meters below the surface LOL

The best thing about WU6?    I think it might be that at first blush, with the exception of that lighting issue, it's been successful enough that the nattering nabobs of negativism have fallen back on complaining more about the update process than the update itself.

🙄😂

Mate, I cannot agree with you yet as I have yet to try it out, and. as I said I am not going to complain about the bugs etc, knowing that they will eventually be resolved.

BUT, you have to admit, I think, that the update process was a bit of a problem, and, again, as I have said in another topic, I am wondering whether or not there is a hidden MSFS agenda in enforcing the XBox App to be included in the update.

I do not have, nor want, XBox on my system as I see it as similar to including eggs in a ham and pea soup recipe. It is just not needed.

For now, I am just looking forward to flying and I am greatly encouraged by the positive comments about the update.

No Nav lights. Microsoft Marshaller still guiding us in with 1 stick.  Maybe I need to stick my head in a pile of sand, darn that attention to detail 😉

Disappointed to see AI nav lights not working, but yeah at least that "temporary" fix still works. The Cessna 208B Inop switches are still broken too(one of my biggest pet peeves post SU5). At least for me as of the last update for the G1000 GXi(v.0.5.0), it no longer causes CTD's and seems to work well so far.

So none of the things that were broken on 9/6 were fixed, nothing from WU6 seems to have really broken(with perhaps exception of the render scale bug) so I guess we have to take the small victories when presented with them and hold out some eternal hope for SU6 in a couple of weeks. 🤨

I did not yet try it - I let it „brew“ for some time - giving 3d party time to adapt and Asobo for the patch.

After that I will enjoy.

Oh yeah, not saying it wasn't.  🙂  I had issues myself, and got rather frustrated.   It's just the apparent determined intention to be outraged by something that some folks seem to have that I get some wry amusement from.

This is what I don't get.  In all seriousness, what might that agenda be?    "Xbox" is just Microsoft's name for their gaming ecosystem -- this is why the subscription service is "Xbox Game Pass", for example, even though you use it on PC, too.   Similarly, the Xbox App itself isn't anything insidious, it's just Microsoft's game downloader/launcher, akin to Steam, or the Epic Game Store.

I saw some folks objecting to having "yet another app" eating system resources when their highly tuned systems are running the game, but even though I had to install it to update the game, it looks like I'm fully capable of running the game without it, so it seems like that's not a problem, either.   And, it's also worth noting, that I personally haven't seen any conformation that it was meant for folks to have to install the app to update the game this time;  my day's only just gotten started, but as far as I'm aware that's just a supposition by folks.

So I'm at a loss, unless it's just a knee-jerk reaction to the word "Xbox" that people are finding troublesome about this.  Can you help me out there?

I'm one of those guys. The Xbox app installs yet another autostart process (and likely a service)  that doesn't serve a purpose in the context of FS, other than being a workaround for the Store malfunction.  Keeping these things in check in reasonable and informed ways (e.g. not throwing brainless tools at it until my OS is bricked) is what I've learned in 30 years of PC based flight simming and has so far guaranteed very smooth sailing, so I'm generally allergic against those and I generally don't want to test needlessly whether or not they cause problems, or if they can be removed again without a trace.

I also don't care if it's called Xbox or Herbert, what I don't like is that it's also yet another store app that wants to needlessly integrate into my system to spam me with blinking buymerightnow tiles. After Windows having turned into a friggin' blinkin' spammin' red light district, the WMR app or Steam putting a second floor of bordello on top of it (although these serve at least some important purpose and they are on demand) and due to the fact that the MS Store is simply malfunctioning* and that it's their job to fix it ASAP, I simply refuse to install it whatever you call it.

That's true, instead we do have confirmation that it affects one computer and not the other one under the same desk.  *That's because it's a store malfunction, or rather a malfunction of the Xbox Gaming Services as I just found out (I think), but having suffered MS shenanigans for more than 30 years, it's also a valid apprehension about future decisions in this regard.  You can blame an abused dog for growling when you make ambiguous moves with your hands.

The word "Xbox" sure triggers negative sentiments in some, particularly those who have or had high hopes or different expectations about the future of FS2020. I just thoroughly detest the communication policy of MS/Asobo, who don't seem to have learned anything from the recent SU5 communication disaster, and that they always get seem to get away with QA being just as abysmal as their communication skills.  Being vocal about that will obviously not change their minds about this, only hard data will and that means (to me)  that I have to help delivering hard data in form of (non-) usage metrics and not endlessly swallowing whatever mess they want to force on me.  I like to think that's just personal consistency with some beginning senile stubbornness.

Maybe it's also just a knee-jerk reaction and yes, patience is a virtue but this is all so riddled with microsoftisms that it has used up most of my patience in only 9 months, because MS has already eaten the other 500 tons of patience I like to offer.

Edit: To make this at least a little bit on-topic - the best part of WU6 is that it made be stumble upon a way to opt out of these forced updates altogether, at least temporarily.  Next challenge might be finding a way to fix this "happy accident".

I am set for Live Ai Traffic from flightaware.  I refuse to get involved with multiplayer. Multiplayer looks like an absolute cluster with people landing on top of people etc and not even trying to keep it halfway organized.

I feel the same, there is no plans to ever turn on multiplayer for me.

Northumberlandia (the "Lady of the North") is a huge land sculpture in the shape of a reclining female figure, which was completed in 2012, near Cramlington, Northumberland, northern England.

Made of 1.5 million tonnes of earth from neighbouring Shotton Surface Mine, it is 34 metres (112 feet) high and 400 metres (1,300 feet) long, set in a 19 hectares (47 acres) public park. Its creators claim that it is the largest land sculpture in female form in the world.[1]
