September 8, 20214 yr Hi Everyone I hope everybody has managed to download the latest update and hopefully enjoying the sim again. I have been thinking of buying one of the above textures.Google suggests Zinertek may be slightly better. I would be grateful for comments/suggestions from colleagues here to decide which is better. I look forward to your comments. Qas
September 9, 20214 yr That chart is exactly why I'm actually debating getting the REX textures even though I already have the Zinnertek ones (bought them before the REX product came out) Edited September 9, 20214 yr by flyinion AMD Ryzen 9950X3D | Asrock X870E Taichi | Gigabyte Gaming OC 4090 w/EK waterblock | Full Custom Loop Cooling | Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5-6000 | Samsung & WD NVME/SSDs | Phanteks Enthoo 719 | Seasonic Vertex Gold 1200W | Keychron Q5 Max | Corsiar Scimitar Elite SE Wireless | Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo | Logitech Pro Flight Pedals | VKB Gladiator Pro NXT L&R handed | MiniCockpit MiniFCU | Alienware AW34DWF | Asus PG279Q | Win 11 Pro

The only caveat is that you may experience issues with 3rd party airports if the dev has used some of Asobo's default textures. AWD's TNCM for example. Here is a quote from Zinertek's dev, who has offered to provide a generic texture without tire marks as a work around. Quote DaeYumYum Official Third Party Dev Yeah, we did look into it and normally the majority of payware airports use their own custom textures for runways, aprons, taxiways, and more. However, in this case, the developer decided to use the textures from the msfs texture library which ‘Enhanced Airport Graphics’ replaces. In this case, it looks like the developer decided to use the same runway texture for the parking area in this particular airport which results in this weird pattern. The only fix in this case is to remove centerline skid marks from the runway texture. This will fix this issue at this particular airport. However, the rest of your default airports with asphalt runways will no longer have centerline skid marks that extend the entirety of the runway. You would only see skid marks at both ends of the runways. SOURCE:https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/zinertek-enhanced-airport-graphics-2-0-releasing-this-week/413211/34 Now, that said, I'm trying to turn over a new leaf where I'm careful about what I say because words can ripple into big waves. BUT, lately the entire broken airports thing is starting to grind on me. I bought AWD's TNCM from SimMarket a few months ago. It gives me CTD's and hung loading screens (without zinertek). I wouldn't touch their stuff with a 10 foot pole for now. Sure it looks good, but It's been causing CTD's for many people since May, due to it's rudimentary file structure errors. https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/tncm-tffg-issues/402759/2 Quote Pieloth May 18 Unfortunately you hit a known issue with the 3rd parties airports, which use same folder names for materials, leading to a CTD You very likely have another airport with same mymaterials name somewhere So renaming the folder as you did is fine But you need also to update the layout.json file with the new name you assigned to the folder. Use a text editor for that There’s also a utility that build the layout.json for you, it’s called MSFSLayoutGenerator.exe, just search the forum here aand you will find the download link awdesigns need to update their package ASAP for this issue In the root folder for awdesigns-tncm, there is a materialLibs subfolder Under materialLibs subfolder is a textures subfolder You should change the name of the textures subfolder to something like: awd-tncm-tffg-textures Then, in the root awdesigns-tncm folder, there’s a layout.json file Open it with a text editor or notepad Change any occurence of materialLibs/textures by: materialLibs/awd-tncm-tffg-textures Be careful to keep the rest of text for each line changed If you mess it up, just delete the complete awdesigns-tncm folder and redownload it from your profile content manager in MSFS I do not wish to be critical, but some of these dev's are starting to deserve some derision. BIIS from the market place is another. I've given up on airports for now until things settle and the cream rises. Your mileage may vary. Edited September 9, 20214 yr by Waldo Pepper
September 9, 20214 yr Zinertek for me, I purchased them a little while back and felt they gave good immersion immediately. I also like the idea of it being installed and supported through the Marketplace (which is a double edged sword) I9-13900kf - rtx4090 32gb ddr5 4800mhz, 2TB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD internet - 300+ mbs / Honycomb Alpha yoke / Saitek Throttle Dell 43” 4K
September 9, 20214 yr I have zinertek, but not overly sure it’s doing anything to my textures, I’ll try reinstalling but so far don’t see much a difference to be honest. Wow, I started raising awareness about this issue almost a fully year ago now, and commercial developers are still getting it wrong? Sad.

Funnily enough, the only real scenery compatibility issues I run into are with certain payware devs who don't seem to package their scenery correctly (IE the materialLib folder issues, modellib.bgl issues etc). Luckily the fantastic Addon Linker program I use can automatically fix these issues with a few clicks. The gap between freeware and payware scenery has DRAMATICALLY tightened with MSFS - which is fantastic! Former Child, Current Adult
September 10, 20214 yr I purchased both. I started with Zinertek which were fine but I installed Rex textures and found them more realistic - nice to have the option of light/heavy wear and tear to surfaces and new or faded runway/taxiway markings. Yup, plenty of well known devs still not following proper naming rules. I run every new addon through the ModelLib changer in Addons Linker as part of my routine when installing new stuff. It amazes me how many are still not naming things properly. It's no surprise to me that so many people are still having CTD's if they aren't doing the same. On Topic... I bought the REX package when i was having issues with Zinertek and I'll never go back. REX textures are giving far superior results imo. Edited September 10, 20214 yr by The Moose

I'm not a big fan of that! Former Child, Current Adult

The gap between freeware and payware scenery has DRAMATICALLY tightened with MSFS - which is fantastic! Thanks for the heads up, Liam! I didn't know that it could scan files. I just downloaded it just to scan my install. I had two different tarmac worker uniform mods installed without realizing it. I had United Airlines tarmac uniforms which I'd installed, and another set which was present in the EGV ground vehicles pack (I was unaware). So I ditched one of them. I had three Mooney liveries that had missing files that were called for by the layout.json. I had 4 airports calling for the same file name. Deleted all of it. I should have checked my loading times for a before and after comparison. Edit: You guys are going to make me buy REX, just to see which I prefer. The price isn't bad. I have profiles built for different regions, freeware and or payware scenery only, and many other situations. This helps me with the process of elimination when a scenery is causing a CTD!
