4k 60hz to 1440p 144hz..WOW

Hi guys,

Just today moved from a 28 inch 4k 60hz monitor to a 32 inch 1440p 144hz monitor and the results are just wow.

I cannot even really tell the difference from 4k to 1440p everything looks crisp , smooth and stable.

Averaging around 80fps on ultra present with a RTX 3080 , i7 10700k.

It will be certainly harder to go back to 4k where's there's hardly and difference. 

Ive never seen the sim run so smoothly not one stutter and screen flick what so ever.

Impressed to say the least.

At the distance most people sit from a 4K monitor, your eye most likely cant' see  the difference between  4 K and  2560 x 1440 , and it sure gives your GPU a break.

I've tried 43" 4K 60 Hz and 34" 3440x1440 100 Hz Ultrawide and the latter is definitely the best option. Much more immersive and easier to run for the system.

Could you please share the brand and make of the monitor. I've been looking to do the same for a while now.

Yes, but I don't have a 2560x1440 to test with. And my system runs 3440x1440 without breaking a sweat.

The other difference is there is a wide range of 1440p monitors around the 32 " size, you can get refresh rates up around 165hz, HDR 10. curved or flat, any combination of the above.

In 4k they tend to be mainly 60 hz and flat.  Which is fine if you want a 60hz flat screen but otherwise not so much.

I am considering buying a new monitor when the cards will be cheaper so I find your experience interesting  as you don't see the difference.

A 32 in.  at 2560*1440 gives you 91 ppi which is generally considered on the low side by reviewers

A 28 in at 3840×2160 gives you 157 ppi which high, 72.5% sharper.

I run a 49 ultrawide at 5120x1440 120hz and it's perfect from my perspective...  (no pun intended)

108 ppi which is considered a good compromise. When I went from 1080 to 1440 I was so happy of the larger real estate which makes a difference in what you see in the cockpit that I wish to go 2160 this time.

It allows my 2080ti to run everything at Ultra in both MSFS and the P word...   For sim racing it is ideal as my real car has a 50 inch front window... Pretty spot on.

To your point though 5120x2160 wasn't available when I was shopping I think it is now although I didn't notice the loss of vertical resolution I was so overwhelmed going from a 34 4096x2160 to the 49 5120x1440

Agreed.  I had a 1080p monitor but wanted to upgrade.  I nearly went with 4K but chose a 3440x1440 monitor.  As you say, smooth as butter!

I have 3840x1600  @144 hz i been happy not hard on my card and  very immersive

1440p is the sweet spot for gaming.
