Carenado C182 (Status 2021-09)

Recommended Posts

Dear virtual Pilots, whats the current stat of the Carenado C182? Any bugs open?

I like flying with the Piper Warrior, but i want to be a little faster and a high-winged machine is better for sight-seeing.

Thanks for your opinions.

Search on my review 182 when it was release last year. It was not too bad but there were few issues. I haven't flown it for the past few month. Don't know what is broken or fixed.

One of the first MSFS aircraft I purchased. Flew it about 3 times and that was enough for me. Been on blocks in the hangar ever since. Try the JF arrow, or Mooney. The Mooney is still waiting for Carenado to patch it. however.

I have flown it recently.  It doesn't seem to have any show-stopping bugs, but it just comes across as a bit 'ordinary'. At least the new Garmin G1000NXi spices it up a bit!

It is not a complex aircraft, it is easy enough to handle (handles very nicely actually), and it does have the decent view due to the high wing.

I was going to choose this or the default Asobo C172 for my cross USA tour (not started yet). Obviously the C182 is considerably faster if you need to get around a bit quicker.  The C172 labours around a bit if you have a lot of ground to cover.

Call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind, but I prefer Rob.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

That’s pretty much where I’m at with it.  I bought it on sale a while ago, and the flights I’ve done in it were decent, but I have other aircraft that are more enjoyable to me so the 182 doesn’t leave my hangar too often.

I'd pretty much agree with that sentiment. I am a bit inclined to blame the 182 for being bland, rather than Carenado for being bad.

Speaking as I find of course. 🙂

If you have ever flown the A2A C 182, that ruins it for buying the Carenado version.

I said, in another thread about Carenado, that I've had a load of Carenados in previous sims but they always felt 'lifeless' compared to A2A aircraft. That doesn't apply in MFS.

I think most would opine that it's the weakest MSFS offering from Carenado to date.

I actually bought it last after having bought the Seneca, and so found it very dull, with unrealistic and unpleasant interior engine sounds (outside engine sound is lovely!). The Seneca feels dramatically more polished, especially in terms of sound.

Carenado's C-182 and Piper Arrow are the purchases I regret most in MSFS.

I can see why with the C182, but why the Piper Arrow? I've purchased the 182 for FSX, P3D and X-Plane and I'm definitely not going to buy the plane for the 4th time just for MSFS, as I see a majority of people said it was a cookie cutter. I think the C172 albeit slower is a very nice GA plane that will hold me over until A2A brings theirs over, if they should ever that is.

After I bought Just Flights version I have never used it again, so it was a waste of money.
