It's been there from day one. Developers know about it an said it will be very hard to fix so not a priority at this time.

I notice it tends to be most visible at sunrise and sunset, and when flying in the mountains, which is unfortunate, as that is a lovely time and place to fly.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Yep it's been there from day 1 of FSX.

That was in October 2006.

Now 15 years later nobody has fixed it. Apparently it's difficult.

"too deep in the code" or some such rubbish they said during a Q&A, sounds like they can't be bothered and/or haven't bothered to look how to fix what is a massive immersion killer and blatant issue.

Apparently, yes.  Not being a graphics expert I just don't know.  And apparently, the move to DX12 isn't guaranteed to fix it either!  😕  (Actually, I wonder if Xbox users see it?)

Does anybody know of any other titles that have this problem?  (Other than sims with the same graphics engine - FSX/P3D).

It is not the biggest issue with the sim though. I would think the spinning white circle lower right is more of a distraction.

So I place it fairly low compared to other issues, and just look at it as having a nice big backup artificial horizon!

And now you can't unsee it 😞   In hindsight I bet you wish you never read this post!

There is much to the phrase "Ignorance is bliss" 🙂

I'll bet you never also noticed in MSFS that when you tilt your view 45 degrees in drone mode you'll see a .....uhhhhhhhhhhh...never mind. 🤣

Until they are fixed, I just fly in the desert or over water until then. 🙂

JK but using a relational pun....I see the "forest for the trees" and can only hope we get to a point where they can fix items A,B,C without whacking X,Y,Z.  Right now its "lets celebrate the things they addressed, and tolerate the things they broke in the process, until they can reach equilibrium with their update methodology". 🤔

I have far less years left on this planet ahead of me than behind me, I hope I get to see a fixed ABC, broke nothing release before I move on. 🙂
Not complaining and generally very happy with what we have....I just want to be able to be excited about an update without the concern of what we'll have to wait for the next release for them to re-fix.

I just looked back through about 10 screenies I captured this past weekend, during sunrise over the Cascade mountain range in central Oregon and I cannot find the line in any of them.

That is because it cuts across the centre of the screen at the halfway point, and tilts depending on the angle of the camera.  It is basically like a big artificial horizon line.

However, it doesn't really show against the sky, only the landscape so if the landscape is half way up your photo, you will see it cut across.
If it is mainly sky like yours (great photo by the way), then you won't see it.

If you compare you photo to the OP's, you will see what I mean.
