Getting CTDs again…

Recommended Posts

I may add that I had a fatal Windows crash yesterday which urged me to reinstall Windows and MSFS. Except MS Office, I have not much other installs. Currently, no overclock.  I'm adding add-ons very carefully but already getting CTDs nearly every second flight. It is impossible to nail it down to one or two add-ons being the culprit. It seems that the whole MSFS structure has become very fragile.

Update: my setup includes no overclocking, no peripherals attached, config file unmodified, community folder empty (except FB KDEN) and my findings so far include…

No CTD with stock 787

No CTD with stock Caravan.

CTD with WT CJ4

CTD with stock TBM

Test flights from JFK to Atlanta and JFK to Hawaii (787 only).

It looks that all those CTDs I get are more related to aircraft in use than to the area I'm in. I do most of my MSFS flights in the the Daher TBM 930/WTG3000. Now I found that at specific airports, where I get CTD with the TBM 930, I don't get one with the C172/G1000. It is a real pain to find the true culprit!

I have had no CTD's for a couple months. Until yesterday.

Flight was LOWW (Vienna) addon airport by Gaya Software, to LOWS Salzburg airport by Digital Design. Flight had no problems, landing had no problems, but taxing after landing produced a CTD. Both of these payware airports were purchased from the MSFS marketplace.

I doubt these 3rd party companies know how to make an airport free of problems because there is no SDK available to tell them how to make a scenery correctly.

Plane was JustFlight Arrow III (non turbo).

I hear you. Looks like the stock Caravan is stable.

did you check to see what was the offending file to cause the crash?

I did not check for the cause because I do not know how.

I have the Windows Event Viewer open right now, but it's all Greek to me.

Maybe youtube will show me how to find which file caused the crash.

Click the arrow that says Windows Logs, then click on Applications. Top middle you should see exclamation icon with information beside it. Find the ones with red exclamation and error beside it and it should tell you the error and file
