Draw distance is broken again!

Recommended Posts

Asobo fixed this problem after Xbox was released. It's back again after the HF this week. Draw distance is 5nm again. I'm using Ultra everything and LOD 200.

There are a lot of things that have regressed again.  I wonder if anyone at Asobo will ever sort it out.

Call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind, but I prefer Rob.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Maybe old, David, but it is not useless to reiterate again and again that a major feature of this sim has been nerfed. It is not yet clear whether this is voluntary to cheat and help the S Box limited memory to cope with the code (cf. Lionel Fuentes interview)  or just the mess that any MFS update release has been, but the LOD is definitely 5nm after WU6, I carefully measured it.

Am not belittling it, But if I start ranting about it again, we will have the tree huggers in here, “ not trees again!!!!….

I think I’ve made myself clear what I think about MSFS since SU5 and you should know that more than most my friend.

It was already back after WU6, before the Hotfix.

Too busy painting doorframes on German castles.  Either they could not quality control a paper bag or the game is deliberately nerfed to please the X box gamers.  Either way I don't think we are getting anything other than short tree draw distance and a blurry sludge on the mid horizon where they end.

I have to agree it‘s a bit tiring. I‘m happy with the sim overall so these regressions are not the end of the world for me, but they‘re annoying nonetheless. What‘s particularly annoying and baffling is that it happens over and over again. At some point floating lights were a topic many people complained about, then they were fixed in some areas, now they‘re back again. Same with excessive lightning, trees, draw distance etc. I know, these things will get (re-)fixed, but the problem is that you never know if they get „re-broken“ again at some point.

I'm not convinced they will get re-fixed.  As the game matures it will be changing less and less.  They are pandering to the gamer segment with their military and air race stuff (and I know they have to pay the bills, I get it), but bugs and annoyances have been there since the start last year and there is no change..  Look at how night lighting looks from altitude, just a blurry smear, the approach input turnaround bug.  The sim is a stunning technological masterpiece for sure, and my glass is generally half full which is why I haven't given up on it (like Fallout 76) but I don't have any optimism that Asobo have any interest in refining it a huge amount.
