Can you or perhaps somebody else explain this further about X-Plane? Does this mean some houses in Europe look like American houses, while some houses in the US look like European houses? I don't think Microsoft will pull the plug on MSFS in the next several years and leave its users without any recourse. But of course, if they do, I would consider purchasing XP12 if the cost is reasonable, especially with the improved graphics in XP12. So I would like to know what Pastaiolo means by the statement above. Thanks. Edited September 26, 20214 yr by abrams_tank i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

I've read on the FSElite site that they render trees close to you as full 3D while further away they are rendered more performance friendly. That would explain my observation. Anyhow, I like the 3D trees. One of the thing I'd actually love seeing in MSFS. The greatest improvement IMO would be the dynamic weather. It's horrible to have those injections of new conditions when entering a new area. I had approaches going from CAVOK to foggy instantly. The scenery overall is still meh... even if you put ortho on, it will probably place autogen where it does not belong as well. Overall, there's no innovation over XP11 / MSFS which would make me jump on it. I'll get it when it's on sale. Happy with MSFS 🙂 home simming evolved

Xplane can make regional scenery through virtual paths in a library system according to certain rules. So it can easily as an example set some rules per country, like cars driving on the other side (UK), pick certain styles of autogen etc... What missing are the art assets, they currently just have for central europe and USA. Hopefully we will have more out of the box in v12 but even if not it's really not a "scenery system" problem so it's a matter of time only/3rd party creating more of them. And I also think the trees are better than in MSFS 😄 I'll probably get it on sale as well, if my hangar really will continue working. Otherwise I won't. Well, on the one hand I understand you, because both already hit their respective (but tiny) target audiences fairly well. On the other hand, a modern, full, open, offline, realistic simulation of the entire world creates a ton of opportunities I doubt even LR have considered yet, XP11 was almost there, XP12 really looks like it will kick out the showstoppers. I agree, the trees look better than MSFS - when being close. In the distance however they look just as crappy as XP11. Remains to be seen how this plays out in live action. As for the innovation, it would need to offer something new in regards to XP11 + MSFS. And while the trees are nice, the overall scenery does not look much better than XP11 from what I've seen in the videos. Also the clouds look like on low settings in MSFS. Quite grainy. All in all - I'll rephrase something commonly used when MSFS came out: XP11 with mods can look better than XP12 default. Happy with MSFS 🙂 home simming evolved

Hmm, from the video I saw of the EVO preview, the trees looked decent in the distance: From what I have seen of XP11, the trees look pretty bad from a distance and still obviously look like 2D trees. In the XP12 video here though, the trees look decent from far away and I can't tell they are 2D trees. I agree with you that as of now, MSFS clouds are still better. We'll have to wait for the final version of XP12 when it's released though to see if LR makes further improvements, including for the clouds. You're carrying on about how realistic and lifelike MSFS is, that you can't tell the difference between a screenshot and a photo. And I'm telling you it's quite easy. Reaching for a comeback just makes you look desperate. Edited September 26, 20214 yr by GoranM
