Orbx Cairns night lighting

Recommended Posts

spacer.pngI would just like to know if anyone else with Orbx YBCS has the same terrible night lighting that I have? fresh reinstall of P3DV4.5 but it was like this prior, the yellow lights on left side along the international terminal are just lights in the air with no light poles, in the day time the poles are there plus all the lights just seem to be floating, I've asked over at Orbx with no reply for a month now, looking for any ideas.spacer.png

It's mostly the scenery being old and not having dynamic lights. But from those screens, your brightness settings are also set very high.

The scenery is around 10 years old, so it's no surprise it doesn't have dynamic lighting. A lot of Orbx's AU scenery is from 2009 ~ 2010 back when they used to be "OrbX", with the exception of a few.

Is this just ORBX austrailia? Because they also have a Cairns Add-on airport scenery which is amazing and looks far better than this.

I just loaded up Orbx YBCS in P3D v4.5 (atop Orbx AUS v2) and it isn't anywhere near as overblown as the screenies you posted.  Here it looks like the typical pre-dynamic lighting older scenery.  The lights are all on top of visible light poles, and aside from some visible banding along the darker edges of the ramp, there is fairly normal attenuation of the light as you go out from the poles.  The ramp light is a soft white, not the harsh yellow seen in your screenshot.

I have HDR on with brightness/bloom/saturation set at 0.9 / 0.2 / 1.1  Dynamic reflections are off.  I am also using PTA, but the terrain and object lighting are all set to 1.0 across the board.

Looks like a shader problem?

Could be a shader problem, I use PTA, but YBCS seems to be a problem, I don't recall, but will have to check, that any other airport addon has this problem, FB, FSDT, TAX2GATE, FTampa, and most other Orbx addons.

If I wasn't in the middle of reinstalling everything right now (needed more HD space) I would take a look. (currently using my laptop), But yeah I don't think that's right.

Modified shaders definitely can cause this, together (or not) with those internal brightness P3D settings, and also that parameter that can be added to the .INI file in order to make night brightness more alight or more dark.
