X-Plane 12 announcement keynote

Featured Replies

All I want is to Xplane as a darn good sim and do well. I want to see competition for the big guy. I want to see LM continue developement with P3D also. There can be many different qualities that are desirable across several platforms and they can all ascribe to the As Real As It Gets mantra. I think won reason I am rooting for Laminar is because Laminar is a David facing two Goliaths.

So Greazer really thinks that the existence and survival of X-Plane depend on his (and similar minded people) opinions?

Oh come on, I get so tired of this, it doesn't bring anything new to the table and takes op 75% of a discussion.

I come here to learn what will be new and exciting in XP12.
I do NOT come here to hear the constant whining of some hard headed know it all's.
Could those people please refrain from posting? (sorry for this rant, but I just went through 13 pages in this discussion and it ends up with the same b*sh*t again).

Yeah sure, just like the "predictions" of 2 years ago of "last nail in the coffin for XP". 🤣

Yeah XP11 still going strong against ridiculous flying game, right? We really seem to be living in different worlds.

Laminar Research customer -- Asobo/MS customer -- not an X-Aviation customer - or am I? 😉

Why do they always get creepy?  Seriously, I think some of you need to get out more and enjoy the sunshine instead of troll the X-Plane forums.

It's just really unusual behaviour.

First they troll, because they simply can't handle the fact X-Plane has been around for almost 30 years.  Then when they feel confronted, they get abusive, and then they get creepy.

Why do you even come here if you hate X-Plane?  No one has ever answered that question.  If it's not insecurity (yeah right), what is it?

Because your assumption is wrong. We don't hate XP. We care. But not just for our own pocket, but for simming in general. We like more platforms, more competition - because it's good for the customer. That's why we are still here and that's also why you can't really cope with our assessments.

Call me creepy if you want to and you think that is your style. I have never been abusive, but sure, go ahead and call me abusive too. And a troll.

Poor creature.

Absolutely nothing you have posted has been helpful.
So yes, you’re a troll. Accept it.

5 year old product, at the end of its life cycle, against a competitor developed by a multi billion company and using a budget which is more than order of magnitude bigger, and yet it managed to keep about 2/3 of its users (compared to right before the temporary surge due to COVID lockdowns)! Doesn't look bad to me, and more importantly, quite promising for XP12.

Sorry if that annoys you. 😆

Clearly you cannot comprehend basic English. What I stated was "By ignoring me, and other like simmers, XP sales will tank"

That is a prediction what WILL happen, IF they do not listen, which is a FUTURE occurrence.

Yawwnnnnn

Greazer in 10 years from now: if it does not have sunflower fields, i will not buy x-plane 15 and it will die just like I said it will a decade ago, and obviously was right about XD

You are stuck in a time loop mate.

X Plane is a diamond in the  rough.X Plane will prevail.!!!!! HAPPY FLYING.

Here's hoping XP can succeed ie: Silky clouds, auto grass, popping textures, pretty castles, dynamic waves, lovely vistas and effective cores.

Do you know the ending to that story?

I have not been impressed by their presentation.

My anecdotal evidence based on multi sim social community is that XP11 actually gained users.

We had a lot of new comer to flight sim and thanks to MSFS mass marketing push.  After they started to flew for a bit, and got more interested in aviation they were craving for more 'hardcore' sim.

We told them to try X-Plane 11 and many switched.  In my group around 40% of the new users switch to X-Plane, 30% quit flight sim and went back to GTA, and other 30% who are mostly casual are still sticking with MSFS.

In general I agree, if MSFS couldn't put a dent in XP11, how will it eliminate XP12 which would be a more improved version.

Be careful, by speaking honest truths you will be labeled a troll.

An opinion is very different from the truth.  You obviously didn't understand his post.

There is no such thing as "my truth", "your truth" or "honest truth".

There is the truth, and an opinion.  And I can safely say, you are just overflowing with opinions.

LR, and some developers I have spoken to have reported the same thing.

There was a definite slight dip in sales for the month in August last year, as expected.  But sales have gradually increased in X-Plane 11 and other developers products.

Greazer may not be a troll, but is without doubt a crashing, repetitive and negative bore. Alas, GoranM rises to Greazer's bait every time and seems to be a peculiarly argumentative type who, in my humble opinion, really must stop trying to help. The struggles between these two, in particular, invariably result in any perfectly regular forum topic going pear-shaped and being terminated. I'm surprised that the other thorough nuisance called jarmstro hasn't piled into the bunfight. I observe that jarmstro lives in Torquay, home of the disastrous Fawlty Towers Hotel, sometimes behaves like Basil Fawlty and tends to post comments in the early hours of the morning, when they should be getting some sleep (and giving us a break).

I believe that it is high time for moderators to take a ruthless approach in dealing with these persistent pests. If mods do not re-take control and exert some discipline, the forum could be rendered worthless.
