Flying into the LA area today, had my first CTD in a while.  Using default aircraft and scenery and everything.

It happens. If you look at the CTD forum on the Microsoft FS site you will quickly realize you are not alone. There are hundreds of threads. Many reasons why, and some have issues and some don't.
