October 17, 20214 yr So I upgraded my rig with a 1080ti, with an liquid cooler, overclocked, not sure what is the spec as I saw how to overclock it on youtube lol. I overclocked my CPU, an i5 8600K to 4.7GHZ and up the volts to 1.325 and replaced my RAM from a Gskill RipJaws 5 2400 mhz, 8gb to a 16gb Corsair vengeance 3600MHZ. I had the ram XMP'd. Still with all that, plus the suggested settings, I can't get above 22 FPS in PMDG 747-400 QOTSII while landing at FlyTampa Kai Tak airport. Not just that, but my FPS would drop from a good 150fps even as high as 200 in the air with ASCA+P3Dv4ActiveSky in flight to below 40FPS when approaching Hong Kong at about 11,000 feet where the FlyTampa scenery is installed.
October 17, 20214 yr Sounds about right depending on your settings with an i5 and a 1080... What are the rest of your settings, AI etc? 40FPS with that system and the PMDG744 at Kai Tak is about as good as it will get and 22FPS with PMDG, Kai-Tak, AI, Weather and that system probably about right dependent upon settings. 150-200 FPS in the air does nothing for you, in fact with your system locking at 30 or 60 FPS would probably be more beneficial. Personally I prefer 60 but your system can not maintain that so I would go 30. Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
October 17, 20214 yr The CPU is still the main performance decider in flight sim, and as benchmarks have shown even a 30 Series GPU at 1080p res no better FPS at 1440 little better 4K performance was what the 30 series was intended for, faster VRAM. Raymond Fry.
October 17, 20214 yr This might well be a bit of a redundant question but what version of the FlyTampa scenery are you using? The old patch for v4 worked but gave pretty choppy frames whereas the newer version from the installer runs a lot more smoothly (at least in my experience). PUT In the UK. AMD Ryzen 5 5600x & Radeon RX6700XT. Prepar3Dv5 @1080p

TBH, I don't know since I've installed this scenery something in March of this year I assume. So how would I go about checking what version I have?

But I can send y'all the link to see my settings via google drive and perhaps maybe give me a suggestion. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1n9kVHHxyCuYBN5WvtlWj-eEolKcQygCx?usp=sharing

Not to be rude but I'd prefer not to start linking to things from someone I'm not familiar with who is brand new to the forums. Much prefer to communicate within the forum so feel free to paste your settings here. Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

If you used the FlyTampa Universal installer than you will have the up-to-date version, if you used the old 32-bit installer with additional patch then it'll be one of the old versions. There was at one point a standalone installer for v4 but I believe it's been updated a few times since then. If in doubt you can download the universal installer from the FT website and use your product key for Kai Tak to start the installation, if you're lucky a reinstallation may just be enough to fix it. October 18, 20214 yr I have similar specs (1080Ti overclocked and i7 overclocked to 4.5 and my settings are similar (4k and 4*MSAA) and I don't have issues with frame rates at Kai Tak. The graphics setting I think might help is your autogen draw distance. This is a real killer on my system so I have it a notch lower. Do you have the new Hong Kong airport installed?
October 18, 20214 yr Check your shadows, those can be a performance killer too... You could switch to V5 and get a nice bump in FPS. Most stuff including Kai tak has a v5 installer now. Yes I do 🙂 Its the WF Scenery VHHH airport. But I hardly use that airport for Hong Kong destinations or origin, just love that Kai Tak.
