DC6 Globetrotting Pt 1 Maui-Mt Blanc via Antarctica

Featured Replies

So funny story.  Last week I saw the release of the Skyway Mt Blanc and was fascinated by it.  At the same time I saw a the thread about Aerosoft Antarctica and was equally fascinated.  My dilemma is I do not like to "jump around" in the sim LOL.  At the same time I had just purchased Maui and Lihue in the Hawaiian Islands and planned to leave from Newark to San Diego for the hop to Hawaii...

So then I went to .to and looked at the scenery map.  Was there any way to get from Newark-San Diego-Hawaii-Antarctica-Mt Blanc???

Turns out there was and it mad a monumental trip.

Routing was Newark-San Diego-Maui (quick hop to Lihue and back) then Maui to Christmas Island-Hao in French Polynesia-Easter Island-Porgenir in Chile-Marambio in Antarctica-Rothera-Marambio-Falklands-Ascension Island-Las Palmas (Overflight of Africa)- Gibraltar-Geneva-Mt Blanc!

The only payware was in the Hawaiian Islands the DC6 and the 145.  EVERYTHING else was freeware which blows my minds...  Here are random shots from the trip

Thank you!!  Extremely bumpy!! Had my hand on the stick thinking one of the pitches would be so violent the AP would disconnect and I'd have to recover the plane but the A/P held and we just kept on flying...

My first "couple" of approaches to Marambio were not pretty either and I had one flight planned to another base that I literally aborted and returned to Rothera when I saw the wall of clouds! I've never aborted a flight in a sim before.

It fascinates me how good the could depiction is with the default sim.  OK, the weather system isn't perfect but doing long flights like this and literally seeing the fronts approach and pass  and the continuous cloud coverage is simply phenomenal.  What you see is the most convincing cloud sets I've seen to date.  Thank you!
