Another seasons step from Bijan

Recommended Posts

Despite the bugs with the experimental terrain mask feature, I enjoy seeing fall colors :)  Hopefully the stripes on the G1000NXi can be solved.

Lots of people are enjoying this new feature. it has been one of the most requested feature and I am very happy to be able to deliver this along with seasons.

@BijanStudio I tried to mark the edges of the patchy loading masks for better visibility:

spacer.png

spacer.png

Just some fractions of seconds after those screenshots are taken, the masks load in patches for another few "tiles" moving the clearly visible edge further out. When panning around, you can clearly see those patchy loading everywhere around the plane on the ground, constantly slightly changing the appearance of the ground. This is annoying and as I said, ruins the whole experience. Honestly, I can not understand how something that obvious can be overlooked, but on the other hand I am aware that I am on the rather "picky" side regarding such things and probably many users do not notice this. Obviously, within the VC, this is hardly noticable (unless you fly planes with top mounted wings and clear sight to the ground).

I suspect it hasn't been overlooked but as Bijan has said, this is an experimental feature that is still being developed and enhanced.  Much progress has already been made since the initial version.

Sure, and I totally understand, but read above posts from Bijan, they clearly indicate that he was not aware of what I was talking about, obviously not seeing this on his side and without red lines not capable of seeing what I mean in my screenshot. To me, it is clearly visible even without red line, so I decided to add the line for better recognizability...

I am totally fine if this is not yet fixed because it is experimental, dont get me wrong, I love Bijans addons nevertheless 😉

Simples!  We just need Asobo to add a settings slider for terrain mask LOD.

Call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind, but I prefer Rob.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

haha, sure. Just that there is no terrain mask without Bijans addon, so might be slightly difficult to have this added by Asobo 😉

It hasn't been overlooked because it doesn't happen here. I have never seen this and this doesn't happen on my side. I flew on different locations and nothing happens like that. I will post a video later on. It could be your LOD settings.

It could not, I have my LOD at 400 for terrain and at 200 for objects, both at the max possible inside the menue (did not tweak my config in regards of LOD since SU6). As GSalden pointed out, you barely see it until about 4000ft off ground, might be that you never flew that high up?

As a sidenote: It may also be different zoom settings, a factor being often overlooked.

Kind regards, Michael

Here I see it too :

Terrain LOD 200

Objects LOD 200

Latest Seasons pack

In my home cockpit I am using higher zoomlevels to connect multiple view pc’s.

So 0.8 instead of 0.3/0.4 might also be a reason that I see it …

I did another video with zooming in and out and I still don't see any.

Try deleting your rolling cache (even if you don't have it turned on). Off screen terrain pre caching might be the cause.

My settings are Terrain LOD 200

Object LOD 200

To me you are still flying slightly low and sorry to say, the vids on YT have so many artefacts, it is really hard to tell. And flying around regions where the ground is so dark you might not even notice your mask is also not really helpful neither. I did above screenshots in Switzerland, around Grenchen and Zweisimmen. How should I delete a rolling cache if it is disabled? Not even available the option to delete the cache...

Terrain pre-caching is on ultra, what setting do you use there?

Other guess: do you also see water mask tiling loading in patches? It looks very similar to me, like in this thread: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/water-texture-problem-square-patches/398743
