Delete rolling cache without launching sim?

Recommended Posts

So I've seen that I should delete my rolling cache before I update my sim with SU6, but as it is now deployed, I cannot run my sim to do this from the menu's, as it updates first ... is there any way of doing this without launching the sim?

Thanks.

I don't believe you need to do it before updating the sim. Just run the update and once it is all done, go into the menu and delete the Rolling Cache. Keep in mind that this also switches Rolling Cache off so you will neeed to turn it on again and confirm a size for this cache.

The only way to do it without running the sim would be to dive into the sim files. That is only asking for a whole pile of misery, and for what?

I keep the rolling cache file in c:/fs2020/cache so can delete it before running the sim.

Also after SU6 the file initializes to a zero (empty) size instead of the cached file size to save disk space.

I read elsewhere that after completing the steps you mentioned one should also change the size of the Cache to ensure the previous history is actually fully deleted. I do this out of habit now but am unsure if it is still necessary.
