Anyone flying the Carenado M20R Ovation?

Featured Replies

I have not flown the Ovation for 6 months or more, but, I updated it a few days ago and was greeted with a flashing red caution/warning on the panel in the upper left at startup.  Anyone know why and how to clear this warning?

Also, it is not clear at all to me how to use the mouse to move the mixture and propeller controls in MSFS.  I missed a few updates in that 6 month absence. The control is highlighted and a box pops up with an up/down arrow on the left, a question mark in the center and a box with LOCK on the right, but I can't adjust the control in or out. duh. The keyboard assignments for these controls work as expected.

Heck, I can't even press a button or turn a knob with the mouse. Maybe there are some new choices someplace to choose the mouse controls. The assigned hardware controls all work for throttle,  gear, flaps, etc.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

I have not tried it since SU6.  I will later though.

The Mooney is very nice. I have an issue though - the autopilot display is blank even though it is working.

The red light on the upper left is the maser caution light. You must have something missed configured, or set wrong, is your landing gear possibly in the up position for instance? Check to see if any of the lights are on in the upper panel in the middle. Gear unsafe, fuel, speed brake etc......

Do you have your Controls set to Lock? That was snuck in, with SU5.

MSFS Options / General / Accessibility

Set the Controls back to Legacy.

Your post got me to get the Mooney out of the hangar this afternoon, and flying it now. It is flying great!! No problems at all.

Thanks guys, I will see if I can find the source of the Master Caution.  Good to hear from you Bert.

Any ideas on why I can't use the mouse for pushing buttons an turning knobs? I just get a popup box and a highlighted color but no action from left or right clicks or scroll wheel.

Regards,

Ray

Ray,  Did you read my post?

Hello Bert.  Yes, but I posted the question about the mouse before I headed over to correct the Lock to Legacy. That was the problem. Thanks for the quick and accurate fix.  I do like flying the Mooney.  This is a good one if we can keep the gremlin at bay.

Ray

The only problem I (and many other) have with the Mooney is that the engine cuts off when on idle with the plane stopped. The RPM goes down to 600 and then decreases fast until the engine stops.

I reported the issue to Carenado and they said they are investigating.

I reported that too. I just try and watch the idle speed after I land and keep it around 900 rpm. Makes for some fast speeds on the taxiway.

That's interesting, it's not at any high altitude airport is it? Mixture could be too rich and lead to an engine stop.

Around 10 feet in Holland, is that too high? 😉  Carenado says they are aware of the problem.

As Bob said, at any airport.
