MFS Xbox is a technological masterpiece - yay!

Featured Replies

bit the bullet & got the Xbox XSX - primarily because of MFS,

spoiler: it will not necessarily replace your PC…

but, simply amazing that it actually works,

no helicopters yet, but the native 152 works well for detailed exploration,

also, 120 Hz HDMI 2.1 implementation with 4K HDR FreeSync Premium setup (need to verify what MFS actually defaults to in this environment),

first impressions, amazingly smooth & must mention went straight to London & LA detailed areas & even slight hiccups were smooth,

to have streaming Blackshark AI with MFS World Updates had me speechless,

all with a box about 8” square & a foot tall…

Congratulations Asobo!

(& what the Game Pass native Standard MFS version comes with, is exemplary, in flight sim history, IMO 🙂 )

very happy!

Have the X too. Yes performance is great and smooth. But I hated that when I started the next flight on the PC it synch‘ed all Xbox settings to my PC. Means I got all those POI markers and labels etc on my PC though I disable them there for better Immersion when flying primarily the FBW neo. wish they offered different profiles for PC and Xbox as I would use the X rather for quick flights soaring around in a GA plane with more labels and markers than for the PC profile when I need mouse and keyboard for the big iron

My PlayStation 4 is on the verge of walking off the job, I was going to replace it with a PS 5 but just starting thinking Of going the Xbox route instead to have the msfs option. I usually only play sports games on console so either way I go the games I play are available on both consoles, would just have to get use to the controllers and UI layout after having been using PlayStation forever.

That kinda sux if that’s the case!!!

Do you need to buy 2 copies of msfs to use it on both the Xbox and pc (I have a Microsoft store copy)

Not if you buy MSFS from the Microsoft Store.  Its 'play anywhere'.

and I believe you can create different XBox profiles which may allow you to have different settings on XBox from your PC.  For me, I like that it sets it up the same -- except for the controller.  and XBox has only an HDR on or off option under 'Graphics' (at least on the XBoxS)

One of these days I'll get an XBX and a monitor that can show it off.  I have nothing over 1080p at the moment.

It took me a month or so to get used to the controller and then figure out how to change default settings to suit my type of flying which is basic GA flying.  I first deleted the inflight toolbar toggle because it kept going off while I was trying to fly and caused me to crash one time.  I changed left D-pad to be brakes instead of parking brake and I made the button that was 'brake' (I think 'Y'), I made that the new toolbar toggle.

Now I can easily get to the toolbar or get the dot that allows me to select and control things or get rid of the dot by pressing the left D-pad key and just fly.

I do hope for better cockpit interaction in the future but for now it'll work.
