Wow,  we're really trolling today aren't we.  First your ridiculous P3D payware airport screenshots, and now this thread... anything substantive to add.... maybe a comparison P3D shot of ships.....

did you even read the post?

Couldn't resist....great song by The Frames about the story of Fitzcarraldo...

My first time to hear the song. Really nice. Thanks. I was pleasantly surprised that he also did "Falling Slowly" (which won as Best Song in the Oscars).

Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space.
Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).

Isn't that the flying ship out of the old 3DMark demo video?  It would be nice to have some of them flying Dolphins along side it!

But seriously, as stated above, if anyone has been following the development of this pack, they will know it is simply a workaround that had to be done by the developer to enable that specific ship on a European lake that is well above sea level, otherwise it will generate at global mean sea level and you would not see it on the lake.  The same for the Great Lakes shipping I suspect.  Not a real issue.

Good to know. Thanks. But, I'm wondering why the height doesn't automatically adjust like it does for aircraft. I'm wondering if that is just a specific quirk for boats and ships in MSFS (or the add-on). Not to take anything away from the otherwise excellent add-on but it's seems odd. I'm wondering how it would work in the Panama Canal where I'm told the ships go up and down while in the water locks.

Correct. It is a quirk in MSFS at the moment.

The developer has to do this as a workaround until MS / Asobo attend to it and add the desired functionality in the sim, because at present, the way MSFS generates the water / sea, it is limited, and boats can only be placed at the mean global sea level in the sim.

My guess it that the developer has to add a bit of 'false model' under the ship to get it up to the correct altitude so it sits properly on the water.  The model you show is only designed for use on that specific Swiss lake as it is quite a bit above sea level.

Asobo are on about looking at this, and even tides, as they develop the sim further.  It wont be for a while though.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.
