FMS CRJ How Can I Fix This Route?

Featured Replies

I'm trying to learn the CRJ and doing pretty well with it, but am having some issues with general FMS stuff. Take this trip: KSFO to KSAN. All realistic flight plans want me to come into San Diego using the COMIX2 star and an RNAV/Localizer approach to runway 27. Notice at waypoint VP378 that you now end up with two paths. How do I edit this in the FMS to get rid of the extraneous green path past VP378?

The RNAV Z approach to runway 27 at KSAN is an RNP procedure. Neither the real nor simulated CRJ is capable of flying an RNP approach. This particular approach would not even appear in the FMS of a real CRJ. It will appear in the sim version, but the aircraft will not fly it correctly.

You would have to use the RNAV Y approach for KSAN runway 27 - or the localizer approach.

If you use r/w approach charts and you note the letters “RNP” in the approach title, or the note “AUTHORIZATION REQUIRED” at the bottom of the chart, do not try to load and fly it with the CRJ. It will not work correctly.

What would you know, Jim? 😂

Just joking! Impressive resume! Must be fun working on all those awesome aircraft!

Thanks to Jim I learned a new term today. "Visual Glide Slope Indicator "

Funny, I actually just flew thr RNAV Y into ksan 27 the other day in the RJ. Unfortunately it botched the approach. As soon as I hit the initial fix, (LYNDI) I believe, all the next way points were deleted in the fms and I had to hand fly it down. Luckily it was nice weather.

Usually it gives up the ghost at about the IM or last waypoint but its a word not allowed shoot.
