12900K owners, what temperatures are you getting in MSFS and how do you cool it down?

I would like to upgrade, is a good 2 fan AiO enough at least in gaming?

I cannot be happier with my new setup, went from a i7 3770K to i7 12700KF, and the difference is abismal. Seriously, I've thrown everything I got, including of course MS2020 and it barely hits 10% utilization. Very happy with the results, Im on a GTX1070, some settings are on ultra others on high, with PMDG DC-6, on the runway at KJFK, I can sustain 40fps with no deeps (Locked at 20 in sim on a 1080p 27" curved monitor @ 120hz) very very fluid. AI Traffic is off, but every other traffic option is maxed out.

With XP I can sustain 60fps with the legendary Zibo on the runway at MMMX (2x SSAA+FXAA) World objects on notch down, reflection Detail low, all else max) smoooooth as silk everywhere I turn.

This processor can ramp up to 5ghz without OC, well worth the $410 I paid for this chip, . Total investment with Asus mobo, 32gb ram,  Samsung 1T M.2 NVme and water cooling solution, $930, not bad at all if you ask me.

Personally,  I'm WAY more interested in MSFS CPU benchmarks that include loading time comparisons.    Loading times would tell much of the story.

No need to spend extra on a 12900K, a 12700K or even the i5 12600K will do the job without sweating. From what I read on the reviews, the 12900K runs a lot hotter then the other two.

I have three Microcenter's within an hour's drive.   All three have the 12900k in stock for $549.

All three have the 12700k @ 299,  and the 12600k @ 229.

I bought a 12900k from them 3 weeks ago,  there were plenty on the shelves and still are.

They have 25+ 5900x @ 449,  and 16 5950x @ 669.

If you use a single monitor, being it 2K or 4K, a 12700k will be more than enough.

Myself, I have a 2x 4K front view and then a 12900K will deliver that bit of extra.

Ah the little piece of hardware heaven where you can probably still get something at a decent price.

I had a build i had to complete for my little brother this year. I needed a decent graphics card .. I had all the parts except the card and had settled into thinking i wouldnt get a card for a couple of months. I'm a cyclist and had signed up for 6Gap in Georgia and was staying in the Atlanta area for that weekend. On a whim i thought to myself.. hmm i wonder if a microcenter was close? found out there were 2 in the area.. Woke up early Saturday and headed out. No line ..walked in nonchalantly when they opened and they had a whole freaking case of graphics cards all within reasonable prices. I don't think i ever whipped out a credit card so fast. Felt like i won the lottery!!

Just bought a 12900k, with a ROG Strix Z690 motherboard and 32 GB of 4400 Patriot Viper DDR4.  Looking to build it over the holiday.  My M2 drives and 3080Ti will slot right in. 

It will be difficult to keep my hands off it until the holiday.   I already have the RAM and processor in the board.  

I just hope my AIO water cooler will fit the board (securing holes).  It is coming of an 8086K  (basically an 8900k).

This will be quite a jump for me in terms of processor.  I know MSFS is now GPU limited on my 3080Ti at 4k ultra settings, but it will be interesting to see if the new 12900k and quicker RAM improves anything - loading times at least!

PS.  I notice no improvement between DDR4 and DDR5 in MSFS at 4k in the video above.  I went for a DDR4 board as I was going to use my old 3600 RAM, but saw the 4400 at an excellent price and it had good reviews, so I snaffled it. 
DDR5 is expensive and still needs to settle down a bit.  I tend to build a new PC about every 3 years, so I will take a look at it then.  Until then, I can't see this DDR4 4400 at 19 timings being too restrictive.

You might find the holes to be spaced differently coming straight off your 8086 board. Look into that and if so see if you can get an adapter for the cooler.

Cheers!  Looking at the board now. 

Looks like I might be lucky.  The holes seem to be 75mm centres on the new and the old board.  The hole pitch looked oblong at first rather than square on the new board, but it was an optical illusion due to the oblong processor slot for the 12900k.

Edit:  Ah!  the hole centres aren't the problem.  Looks like it needs a spacer / standoff.  Only a few pounds though.

Good to know. That is the only issue with most aircoolers i.e Noctua which prevented me from the upgrade.

Yes.  I just edited my post above as it looks like it needs a standoff for the support bracket according to the Corsair site.  £1.99 and free delivery.  Future kits to have 1700 socket support out of the box.
