AIG AI Manager OCI for MSFS - quick first steps (video)

So your AIGTC doesnt correctly start? I think you might need to redownload. This is not normal and therefore can be the explanation for your experience.

Oh and you do NOT set traffic to „AI offline“, because then you will see traffic - but generated by MSFS (with AIG liveries) and all over the place with no real life connection. You need to set traffic to „off“ inside MSFS. Also you need to set ground aircraft to 0.

thanks for the replies.

1)I managed to unblock the traffic controller (seems other people are having the issue also) - needed to maximise it from the tool bar and it popped up on my second monitor and now works ok......

2)Also I managed to get the traffic working (at least for Kai tak(using freeware addon) and also for heathrow) so interested in your comments around the settings - I am using in MSFS options "traffic Type" set to "AI offline" and under it traffic  density of 26 (ground traffic is 0) and in the "Air Traffic" pre flight options section (underneath the x3 multiplayer squares) I set it to AI - however from your comments assume I need to set "Aircraft traffic type" to off and also "Air Traffic" option square to off also to get it working properly?  - perhaps you can confirm if this understanding is correct as many people are convinced AI offline needs to be selected? - I also have stopped using "live" times and just pick an early morning weekday as the date/time as more traffic appears active around then.........?

3)Still struggling to get any traffic at seattle Tacoma (although renton was full of AIG aircraft!) - it might be I am selecting a quiet day/time - what date/time were you selecting when setting up your Seattle flight?

4)Also aside from my issues opening the AIG controller - I find the AIG map will update only to my "real" location on my first flight then for subsequent flights it still shows the original location (have selected the "centre to plane" option already!) - although the AIG traffic is getting injected ok but the map seems not to update - also strangely if I untick auto spawn for the traffic my manual inject button does not show blue when I hover over it (so not sure if it actually works!)

Yes basically you set every aircraft traffic inside MSFS to off / 0.
As for Seattle, there will be traffic any time of the day, it’s a busy airport. If you are not seeing anything, something‘s still not working right. So let‘s assure you are doing the following with the AIGTC:

0) You start AIGTC and in the settings tab you untick the box with „auto inject traffic“, also the slider has to be fully right at 100% (we will do it manually for now, until it works). You also make sure you have the correct path to the OCI folder in the community folder set here. Then you close down AIGTC again.

Normal procedure step-by-step:
1) You start MSFS.
2) When the MSFS main menu is there (where you can choose „world map“, „marketplace“ etc.), you start the AIGTC via the shortcut (Possibly you will have to choose „MSFS“ in a small dropdown box when you start AIGTC, anyway there should be written „for Microsoft Flight Simulator“ in the AIGTC loading screen picture ).
3) You load your flight as you like, e.g. At KSEA.
4) Once the flight has loaded (= you see your cockpit), you alt+tab to the AIGTC window and click on „inject traffic“.
5) Now you can switch to the „map“ tab and you should see about 100 yellow aircraft symbols in or around KSEA. Also you can switch back to MSFS and should see the aircraft at the airport.

thanks for the guidance - it now (mostly) seems to be working for me - so when I start a fresh game at heathrow or KSEA have started getting

the AIG traffic - however there have been a small number of occasions - where everything seems to have loaded ok and there is traffic showing(at the gates) on both the controller map and on the little nav map but nothing actually appears in the sim until I close and restart AIG and for some smaller airports (such as Rio - not get anything except 1 or 2 static aircraft).........any ideas on what might be causing this(or maybe all airports are not covered?) also:

1)does the traffic controller auto update?(if not whats the latest version)

2)I read a couple of posts from some people suggesting if in the traffic controller "resources" folder if I see a zip folder (called databases) I should delete it as it could be the source of some issues? (note my AI manager app also has a "resources" folder also with some zip files named "databases" - should these also be deleted?)

Well if you want to be sure, just delete the whole folder and re-download the newest version. You will only have to re-set the path after you downloaded. http://www.alpha-india.net/traffic-controller

It will auto-update (after starting), normally, if there are any updates. I‘m not sure about the resources folder and the zips, but as said above, it can‘t harm to just delete and redownload the controller.

ok thanks - I think the suggestion was not to redownload the whole controller again but within the controller/resources install folder if there are some zip files then just delete them (but will give it a try and see if it help).

out of interest should AIG give traffic at all airports or with smaller ones will you see nothing or very limited if there is limited scheduled flights for them? and if you do not have the right liveries (installed) for an airport will it just show generic aircraft or even no traffic? (in my case I have around 50% of the available liveries installed)

1) AIG does mirror real life scheduled airliner traffic and business jet traffic (though the latter obviously in parts). AIG does not create random 152s or 172s flying around, if that is what you are asking. There is a way to show that in addition to AIG, but I do not do that.
You can look for the airport in the AIG Manager and see If/what flightplans are used at that airport.

2) When you download an „airline“, you do not only download the liveries but also the flightplans. So you are at a small airport where only one or two airlines go and you did not download those two airlines, you will not see any AIG traffic there. If you do not want to download every airline, you can (as described above) look what airlines go there at that airport you want to use and download the missing ones specifically.

interesting.....

I did see in my local airport (payware) - lots of cessna's and GA parked around and they were appearing on the AIG controller map (although assume they were just static aircraft put in by the developer).

So basically for 2) if I am flying to an airport in brazil for example (and have no airline (liveries) installed that fly there)  or there are none (of my downloaded liveries) scheduled to be operating during the time and ay I selected I may very well see no AIG traffic?(rather than there being an issue with AIG not working)

So really if your  flying globally and you want to see "full airports" its better to just download all the liveries (will this apart from taking up disk space also impact AIG controller load times?).......................................also can see there is a "traffic density" setting in the controller (which I always set to 100) and also one in the sim settings called "AI aircraft density" (mine is at 58) - if you want the "full" flight schedule at say heathrow do you need to set both of these at 100 or does the sim option one have no impact on AIG?

Yes, that's correct. There is no performance loss when you download 100% of the airlines, it's really only disk space and - not sure about that - the loading time of the AIGTC. But it's worth it, because it's really educating how many airlines there are in the world, and some have very great unique liveries.
Also yes, somehow static aircraft are sometimes "acknowledged" by the map in AIGTC, no idea why or how.

As for the "density" settings. If you want the full schedule at Heathrow, you choose 100 in the AIGTC, and 0 in MSFS. (Again: "Full" schedule will only be there when you have all airlines installed, that fly to Heathrow) Bear in mind that 100 aircraft can be very taxing on the sim, so performance will suffer (but that's the case with or without AIGTC generated traffic) at big hubs like EGLL.

If you use the setting in MSFS additionally (as you do), you will get even more traffic, but not real one. MSFS will just randomly load any aircraft with a random AIG livery, so you will see stuff like Ryanair at Hong Kong.

interesting - so by using MSFS settings assume you mean although I set Aircraft traffic type to "off" my AI Aircraft Traffic Density is set at 58? (although it looks greyed out) might still be having some effect - with random AIG planes getting injected at some airports? (better to fully install the liveries then set the x2 MSFS options to "off" and "0" respectively) I assume? (or are there some other MSFS settings I should also tweak)

Ah okay when it is greyed off it is not being used, so scratch that. So you can leave everything as it is.

will do (although I am sure I have occasionally seen some random liveries at airports they have no connection with!) - also just went into the AI manager with the intention of installing all the "missing" liveries but didn't realise how "cumbersome" the interface was (I set everything up some time ago) - whats the easiest way to install all the "missing" liveries in one go? (assuming I can leave the PC running overnight)

Check the first "airline" box, scroll down, hold SHIFT, check the last box. Now all airlines should be checked. Now hit "OCI-bulk install" (greenish button).
However I wouldn't let it run overnight, because every once in a while there come an error (site not found etc.) where you have to click "ok" so it continues downloading, or it tells you to manually save a file and then select it when downloaded. Since the liveries are on different sites, this can happen every once in a while. (Though you can prevent the latter by checking the "no manual downloads" box down below").
Better let it download while doing something else at home (watching tv, eating etc.), so you can observe the pc. Also you could just download in bunches, like 50 a day. Then it will not take as much time and you can turn your PC off and continue the next day.

Hey @Bad_T I made my own tutorial video based on what you did in yours! I also included setup in MSFS and some discussion on VATSIM model matching + a VMR I created. Hopefully it can help anyone who wants something with more narration!

For me it says that the oci directory is coming close to the maximum length of 255 characters error anyone knows what to do?

Reinstall it to a different location closer to the root (\) folder.

Somewhere like C:\AIG\ or E:\AIG\

That will keep the full path and file name length well below the limit.

I am getting  some of the issues described by various people. I have TC installed on a separate drive. Could this possibly cause issues with missing aircraft etc?
