Since  some of the folks here seem to be interested in the doings of Clint Eastwood I thought it would be time to post (re-post?) a couple of "Eastwood Stories".

Story #1. How did he ever become mayor of Carmel, CA? Back some 40 years ago Eastwood owned a bar in Carmel. It was called The Hogsbreath. It was a small place and very crowded almost every night. Next door was another small business that came up for sale. Eastwood bought it and planned to expand the bar into that area. But, the planning commission turned him down. They said a larger bar was not in the best interests of the residents of Carmel. OK. Enter the elections. Eastwood ran for mayor, won, fired the planning commission, installed his own folks, and expanded his bar. 

 

Story #2. My sister-in-law worked for the Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce back in the late 1980's. I'm not sure exactly what she did there but it had something to do with municipal publicity. Sometime in early 1986 we were sound asleep when the telephone rang a 1 a.m. It was the sister-in-law. All she could say was  I I I jjjust hhhad dddiner wwwith CCCCClint  EEEEEastwood. She was so excited she could hardly talk. It turns out that Eastwood, a newly-elected mayor, just wanted to get in the good graces of the Chamber of Commerce. So, he called and set up a dinner "date".

I love that guy...............

Eastwood's great movie Play Misty For Me centers around the bay area lifestyle. Very different from his cowboy and cop movies. Clint got to actually direct for once!

Dirty Harry was made 50 years old but still one of the most memorable lines in cinema history. 👍

We're on the same wavelength, I wish there had been a sequel to the late night smooth jazz DJ.

The only Eastwood movie I liked better was Good Bad Ugly where Jewish method actor Eli Wallach was very believable as a Mexican bandito.

The movies i've seen him in were Tarantula,  Escapade To Japan, and Highway Patrol titled, Motorcycle A besides the popular ones.

I wonder who was tougher, Clint Eastwood or Broderick Crawford??

The interesting thing about his cameo appearance in Tarantula is that you never see his face. He's the jet jockey wearing an oxygen mask. If you ever want to see that film again you can watch it here:  https://archive.org/details/tarantula_202106  (along with hundreds of other old movies).

I know we all love the San Francisco scenes we recognize in the Dirty Harry movies.  But there is another scene that stands out in my mind.  The school bus scene because we had moved to Marin County (Mill Valley) and I know the area pretty well.  That off ramp was the Larkspur Landing ramp and the road the school bus took would drive you right past San Quentin prison and on the Richmond Bridge; or the long around the point into San Rafael.

That ramp that curves off to the left goes to Larkspur.  And the main highway (Highway 101) goes over the hill and into San Rafael.

So we have remembrances of Clint Eastwood in San Francisco, Carmel, and Marin County.

Marin County is a favorite flying area for me in P3Dv5.  I have my Kodiak based at Gnoss Field in Novato, just north of San Rafael.  I have my Kodiak Amphibian at Commodore Center in Sausalito.  And the ultralight is based at the San Rafael airport.  Orbx does scenery there pretty well.
