Instant Scenery

Anyone using this? Looking for feedback. Seems pretty cut and dry with plenty of benefits. I'm waiting for my new system otherwise I'd give the demo a try. I also wonder how many authors will add to the file library. I'm looking for various sized southwest adobe homes, cow skulls (if they could be made), free standing solar panels, tents, and a few other items.(sounds crazy huh? Like a scavenger hunt!)Seems like this would be a hit to help customize many airports and since all the files are already installed in FS and the scenery can be shared, would be popular in the daily addons of the Avsim front page.

I found this site (mentioned in another thread) http://lc0277.nerim.net/sceneobjects/I found most of my objects needed but the adobe/santa fe/ pueblo style homes. I kinda found the look and color of what I wanted with this object:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/169726.jpgBut am looking more something like this:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/169728.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/169732.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/169733.jpgAny developers care to help?

I tried the demo. I was surprised to find that you can't move objects by grabbing them with the mouse, so I won't be buying it. With Instant Scenery the only way to move objects is to move the aircraft! The Object Placement tool that comes with the FSX SDK allows you to select and move objects with the mouse as you'd expect in any editor. I'll be sticking with it for now, despite its clunky interface and a serious bug. But at least it's free!Best regards, Chris

I like this because you can select your object by catagory, the object placement tool is difficult to find exactly what you need. You have to cycle all the way through all the FSX objects to see what you need and the name is not much help in finding it. You can also turn it, rotate it, and adjust the hieght and elevation easily with the slider tools. Yes I know this can be done with the object tool too, but I find it much easier.By the way, I am not sure, but wasn't this orignally made by Abacus? It looks exactly like there EZ Scenery program. In fact, if you use the EZ Scenery program from FS9, you can install this without having FS9 in your computer, you can add your own objects into the FSX library using their library creator tool. You can also import any objects made by other designers into your FSX addon folder. Then you can easily find them in the Instant Scenery.I am using the free version right now but will deffinatley purchuse the full version when I gather up the money.

Hi Tom, I've been working with the Instant Scenery demo and like it so far. Do you know how it is different from EZ Scenery? Do you think one has any benefits over the other? Thanks

Hi,AFAIK, IS has lots of advantages and only one disadvantage vs EZS.IS's only disadvantage is that it uses the Flight1 wrapper and some people have problems with it. That's it.IS adds pitch and bank control, scenery density control, and FSX compatibility to EZS. It also lets you pick the object from a thumbnail view (assuming you have or have made the thumbnail images). It's also cheaper.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

Yes, it seems to work fine. I put some birds at my airport and they fly around the tarmat. Nice.I have also add some of my own objects along with some that I have downloaded here in the FS2004/scenery Design. Type in EZ-Scenery and there is quit a few of them. They install easy and are placed in the pull down menu. You need the orignal copy of EZ-Scenery by Abucus to use the Library tool located in the EZ-Scenery folder if you wish to make your own objects. I wonder if the Instant Scenery designer is going to add this to his program in the future.

Thanks Tom, What is the problem some folks have with Flight 1's wrapper? I haven't ordered from them before.I've been using the Instant Scenery demo quite a bit and really like it with the amazing number of objects available (ez, rwy 12 etc.)

Hi,I've never used it, so I have no first hand knowledge. Do a Google search for "flight1 wrapper problem" (no quotes) and you'll get several hits. Seems most problems have to do with antivirus programs and firewalls.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___
