Yet another AIG question - this one is specific to KMEM

Featured Replies

Allowing a few weeks for transitioning from beta to working copy, will installing AIG add significant static and moving traffic to Memphis International, main hub for Federal Express? The plain vanilla default KMEM is pathetic.  Just curious, but interested enough to install AIG if it looks like it can wake up KMEM for me.  Thanks.

Ray

Once they add cargo if you add FedEx you will find a KMEM full of FX planes.  Same with UPS and Louisville, United at their hubs, BA. etc etc   It's all based on the airlines real world flight plans.

Well, the air around KMEM is saturated all hours of the day and night with FedEx comings and goings and the back lot and runway is pretty much all FedEx. Thanks.

Right now the only models available are the 757 and 777 for fedex and 757 and 748 for ups. I did ask on their discord about converting the MD-11 767 and A300's and they are working on it

Thanks for the insight.  Is the AIG Cargo edition or version on the near horizon?

I'm not sure I'm going to install any cargo flightplans yet, since I don't think most airports, except for maybe a few payware, are set up for cargo spaces. You might have cargo aircraft populating your passenger stands.

The default KMEM isn't very good right now in terms of parking.  Also the AIG only installs a few Fedex models right now.  So I did go there the other day and there were a couple of Fedex planes around but its a far cry from what it should be.

KMEM has no cargo parking, so the planes will either park at ramps or gates. The cargo models should be set to ramp only, but I believe if there's no free ramps it will spawn at gates.

Cargo is already in the package. It's just there's only a handful of models.

Even ruins attempts to fly into nearby Olive Branch, Mississippi! KOLV.  That based on experience as a ride-a-long on three flights!  That airspace needs to be reclassified, and not for the better!  When you positively absolutely need to get there, and especially after dark, choose another destination......

The default parking in MSFS while often plentiful is almost as poorly done as the default airports in P3d V5. Looking at KLAX in ADE for instance shows only a handful of spots large enough for most heavies and only 4 of them are gates at the terminal building.

Most unfortunate.

Interesting. There are other articles about the first few days and weeks of FedEx operation. The one smart move was to relocate the hub from Little Rock to Memphis.  Thanks Frank.
