Are we all expecting Italy then for the next World Update?

A few weeks ago Neumann mentioned in an interview with a German magazine that the next WU was going to be some place „far away“ so I guess it won‘t be Italy.

That's why they're taking December slow.

They deserve a great year-end.

I heard those rumors as well. But if you tell a german magazine that the next update will cover a place far away, then it's probably going to be New Zealand. Because seen from Germany that is on the exact opposite of the Globe and you can't get farther away.

Jorg - "And then there’s going to be cool weather features coming over the next two years. There is some fascinating stuff that is possible now with weather that has never been done anywhere. I mean nowhere. I’m not even talking about flight simulation. Nobody has done it. There are moving satellites that track storm systems by the kilometer… It’s very, very cool what we’ll be able to do."

Oh that will be awesome! My will never-ever-happen wish-list for next gen weather is:

  • Icing model that asymmetrically changes lift coefficients and degrades engine performance.
  • Hail, freezing rain, and super-cooled droplets.
  • Condensation on airfoils related to AoA.
  • Cirrus, Lenticular Clouds, Squall Lines and other cloud formations / types.
  • Dust storms.
  • Unrestricted vertical airflow including: Microbursts, day-time asphalt updrafts, and rain / hail hitting you from below.
  • Wake Turbulence. Bonus points if they punch holes into clouds.
  • Dust devils, twisters/tornado's, typhoons/cyclones/hurricanes with visible eyes.
  • Forest fires, volcanic ash, and pest clouds*. Bonus points if they can degrade engine performance. Bonus Bonus points if they can be picked up on WXR.

*Google "grasshoppers in Las Vegas radar", or Locust cloud to understand why this is a major thing. They're moving obstacles.

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

I feel like pavement thermals are very doable. That alone would add a lot of immersion to approaches into Vegas/Phoenix/other places that are extremely hot with lots of pavement!

The 110*F temps and the pavement thermals over Vegas made me so airsick I opened the window and grabbed the puke bag. During my PPL checkride! So embarrassing!

Yeah they're no joke! Even in a large airliner you'll get bounced around a LOT.

The items I bolded above could/should be theoretically doable both from the METAR standpoint as well as the visual standpoint.  I wonder if they can make volcanoes procedural with eruptions?  I remember seeing red textures in one of ORBXs South America or Central America regions for P3D (can't remember right off).  Imiagine how it would look if procedurally done?  It was near MRLB I think.  That data is readily available.  I think that would be a pretty cool short term addition if they could do it.
