Multiplayer sailplane groups?

Recommended Posts

Guest AJ

Since getting FSX, the sailplane has become my favorite aircraft to fly. Does anyone here no if there any multiplayer sailplane groups around for FSX? Also, has anyone heard if someone will be developing a commercial sailplane addon?

Aerosoft is working on an acrobatic glider. Here is a link to the main news page, you can scroll down to see the glider:http://www.aerosoft.com/cgi-local/ca/iboshop.cgi?show270Here is the forum at Aerosoft for discussing the Discus glider they are working on, with some preliminary pictures. http://www.forum.aerosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=10886The gliders are great fun in FSX! I liked the glider in FS9, but was disappointed that I couldn't make them go in some of the real world regions where gliders are common. In FSX, you can successfully glide in most regions of the world. The thermals may or may not be absolutely realistic, but they do give you the lift you need to really soar.My two favourite gliding regions:Abbotsford Airport CYXX, home of the Abbotsford Airshow. There, I met the amazing Manfred Radius who was so kind as to talk with me about his absolutely brilliant airshow glider performance.Lugano Airport LSZA. Gliders are often seen circling the nearby mountain peaks. There is a tourist tram that will take you up to an honest-to-goodness Swiss Chalet at the top of one of the mountains -- the view is incredible, the food is good, and you can see the glider pilots eye to eye as they swoop past the upper cliffs, from a safe distance, of course. Breathtaking! Jeff ShylukAvsim Product Reviewer

I was thinking the same thing only yesterday. It occurred to me that it may be possible to have gliding competitions in multiplayer which would addd an extra sparkle to the FS scene (and sort the men out from the boys).:)

Great idea - the gliders are fun. There's a bunch of extra glider models for FSX here: http://www.fsglider.de/index.htm - they don't have the fancy flexing wings, but they make a nice change. There's also a clever fella called Foster Lewis who's made a total energy vario for FSX. Get it (and some other interesting stuff) here:http://carrier.csi.cam.ac.uk/forsterlewis/.../fsx/index.htmlI'd love to see some more multiplay with gliders in FSX.

Glad you enjoy the sailplane. Can't get this question answered so far: I've never seen a sailplane without a yawstring....anyone have any idea how to add one to the default sailplane? Craig
