Significant FPS improvement in DC6 available

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

It would be great to avoid a discussion around whether or not 30fps is enough here please as we've done that to death!

I've been waiting on Asobo to enable some functionality which PMDG said greatly increases performance of the DC6 in cockpit, so I checked in over at the PMDG forums. Turns out they've enabled it as part of the developer build (presumably for release in the next update).

With this enabled this beautiful aircraft is finally flyable for me. It was worth the wait. I've gone from 30fps upto a constant 48 minimum in cockpit but more often 60+ (2080ti, 9700k, 32gb DDR4, ultra/high mix, 3440x1440).

https://forum.pmdg.com/forum/main-forum/pmdg-dc-6-cloudmaster-forum/153213-has-the-rendering-pipeline-been-re-enabled

Hope this is useful to anyone who is either willing to try it out, or who has been waiting on this improvement.

Thank you for the heads up on this I will give it a try.

I really enjoy this aircraft but don’t tend to use it much because of performance issues.

Thank you for post this.

Just purchased this beauty hours ago in the marketplace, haven't flown it but the "GPU USAGE" is pretty low in the cockpit even below 50%, it won't annoy me right now because the manuals could take me weeks maybe months until i can handle it well i think, thankfully i can read English barely😅. Hope we can get this issue solved soon.

MSFS is my first flight sim experience, the DC-6 is just mind-blowing compare to other addons i've got, i mean the manuals are worth the price let alone the aircraft given as a present. Wish i have more time on this exciting sim and please bring us more addons this level.

Cheers guys.

I wonder if this will bring any improvement to other aircraft in the sim?

Call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind, but I prefer Rob.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Ok I have always had an issue with performance and a 1 sec constant stutter with this aircraft.

So far my experience with enabling the rendering pipeline has been excellent. Locked at 40fps flying out of LFPO and over Paris and it was so smooth.

Off to do some more flying but so far very impressed.

As bobcat said, I wonder if it brings gains to other aircraft.

I guess all planes that have gauges created with vector graphics (NanoVg) will benefit of this change.

"You need to go to Options -> General Options -> Developers and set the Developer Mode to ON and save,
Then when you load the plane from the developer menu select Options use NanoVg for XML gauges."

----------------------

I think I will try this tonight but!

I have never loaded an aircraft from Dev mode, how do you do that?

Under the Developer Toolbar go......

Windows > Aircraft Selector

then just scroll and select the aircraft of your choice

Check bottom right for my FPS. This is on the ground. Used to be capped at around 30. Most dramatic fps improvement from a config setting I've ever seen in a sim. Fantastic.

Have to try this out, even though I already have quite good performance in the DC-6. However; more is almost always better!

I am locked at 30 FPS in the DC6, so I think I will wait for an official fix, if one ever comes.
