Asobo Is The Greatest Flightsim Company In History

Recommended Posts

I keep an internal list of my all-time favorite flightsim product companies, companies, that IMHO have truly innovated flight simming or have created products that I got many many hours of use out of.

In turn, I also keep a s**t-list of companies with the  header: Never buy from these companies again.

But, focusing on the positive, my list until this year looked like this:

1. Terminal Reality
2. Dreamfleet 2000
3. Reality XP
4. HiFi Sim
5. LookingGlass Technologies

Now:

1. Asobo
2. Terminal Reality
3. Dreamfleet 2000
4. Reality XP
5. Hifi Sim
6. LookingGlass Technologies

I'd have to add Sublogic.

Asobo? Really? I'm just thankful Asobo doesn't develop anything for a real world application. It's best they stay on the simulation side so no one gets hurt.

Don't forget Bruce Artwick, the man who "invented" Flightsims. But no, I don't think Asobo is the greatest flight sim company.

Seriously?.

1. All-in-one simulator that pretty much worked out of the box on day one.
2. Excellent performance, even on lowend hardware
3. Update after update with great new content
4. WT
5. A vibrant modding community
6. Very decent default aircraft made better and better by aforementioned modding community, example: Robert Young, mixMugs, Dakfly, Tommy's DA62, WT
7. The Xbox platform, thus ensuring a much larger user base.

Disclaimer: not everything works as it should , blah blah, bugs are still there, things need improvement blah blah.

Been quite a few of these, always comes as this awkward counter-push when a community is giving feedback and critique on a developer's latest blunders. Then they feel the need to defend a corporation, for some reason. Notice how they always interject a sort of attitude around it as well, like saying "bla bla" when addressing the core issue of the negative feedback to dismiss it or just use silly terms like "haters", again, to simply be dismissive in the most intellectually dishonest way possible.

1. Argumentative. Mine didn't come in a box.

2. Cannot comment on this as I don't believe I have "lowend" hardware.

3.Without bothering to fix what's already in the sim. Oftentimes breaking what's already in the sim.

4. Not Asobo.

5.Not Asobo.

6.Yes, decent default aircraft, but noneof those people mentioned work for Asobo.

7. Not Asobo

I'll judge Asobo after their 10 year plan has ended, in the meantime they're far from the best IMO especially as they're still very new to simulation, they have much to learn.
