No voice output with 2.6.2.4 in x-plane

[Dscho 2]

After updating to 2.6.2.4 there is no voice output to the headphone although i am able to hear the sounds from x-plane. P2A can hear and understand me and  the response to my requests are appearing in the text window, but no sound at all. Any ideas?

Looks like you have the weather being retrieved every second.

You need to set the Weather Refresh time to 15 minutes or some other reasonable period.  

If the sound doesn't come back after that setting change:

• check the Speech Output Device setting in Config->Speech tab.  
• check your headset volume setting
• check that the sound is not muted on the headset

Hi Dave,

thanks for quick reponse. I now reset the weather transfer time to 30 mins. I checked my sound settings over and over again and it seem to be OK, because I can hear i.e. the ATIS from x-plane and also all other sounds without any problem with my headphones. But i recognized, that whe I try to test any sound or voice from within the config panel, I dont hear any sound! yesterday, before updating, I didn't have any problems with the same sound settings.

While P2A is running, right click on the speaker icon in the Windows Task bar and select "Volume Mixer".

A window will open with volume sliders for all running apps that use sound. 

Check the volume for P2A.

If that doesn't fix it, check your sound drivers.  Be sure that there aren't duplicate drivers for your headset.  Also, try updating the sound drivers.

I would also try testing the voices in Config when P2A is the only program running.  Just to try and isolate any program that might be causing a problem.

If none of that works, I would uninstall all of P2A, including deleting the main install folder and the P2A_200 folder that contains the Settings and Log folders.  Could be a corrupt file is causing the problem.

Then install the base program with the Navigraph or NavDataPro data, followed by a fresh copy of the Beta.

Hi Dave,

very weird situation: after starting P2A, the volume slider of P2A is 0, after moving the slider up to let's say 75, I talked to clearance delivery and as soon I released the PTT button, the slider snapped back to 0 and no sound can be heard ( but the text messages appears correctly ). BUT: if I tested sounds and voices from the Config panel, everything is fine and I can hear all sounds.

At the Config panels there is the possibility to specify a volume level for each voice or sound for testing, I set them all to 75; did I miss a volume setting for output anywhere?

How can I check whether there are duplicate driver for the headset?

That sounds like a Windows setting is not correct.  

On the Communications tab of the Sound dialog in Windows Control Panel, be sure "Do Nothing" is checked for when Windows detects Communications activity.
Be sure the Advanced tab of the Properties window for your default recording device (microphone) has the sound format set to 2channel, 16 bit, and either 44,100 Hz or 48000 Hz (CD or DVD Quality).

One of those might do it.

Good news, problem solved: at the Config panel/ Speech Tab there is a control named "Speech Recnognized Tone" and at the right side there is a control to specify the volume level; there the volume level was set to 1 ( I swear, i never touched this control before - obviously this was changed by the update). After setting the volume level to a reasonable value everything as fine!
