METAR vs MB

Recommended Posts

I am parked in Venice, Italy. The NOAA METAR indicates a CAVOK weather and the Asobo engine shows a very cloudy weather. Asobo wins this one, after having checked with Windy.co and local weather cams.

I'm sure you are well aware, but for the record: CAVOK is not equal to "no clouds in the area."

You can have 99% clouds* at +5000ft, METAR would still say CAVOK if visibilty is greater than 10KM

My Windy indicates clouds at 9500ft at Venice, for example.

* No TCU/CB activity.

I stand corrected then
