Interesting. So either it's still an issue, or the METAR limitations are a feature.

Not sure what is worse.

Currently circumnavigating the world in a mix of Cessna and Piper aircraft.

not true on my side with two flights now. Weather is working here, no sudden change happened

As I said in my OP it was just one flight with the v1.21.18 beta. Live weather outside my window was changing for the worse and my short flight took off heading for the upcoming front. When I "found" the front the weather change was not gradual as would happen IRL. Altimeter spun rapidly as the barometer changed, partly cloudy changed to complete overcast ... instantly.
