December 9, 20214 yr I didn't watch or read anything. How the heck did she end up in the water in the first place?
December 9, 20214 yr Moderator I watched (without sound) and also wondered how she ended up there and why didn’t they pull her out? I saw the the rescuer was at the car with the door open, was she already dead or unconscious and couldn’t pull her out? Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

She may have been killed in the initial accident or died of hypothermia soon after the car entered the water. That took some huge stones for that rescue diver to go into the car to retrieve the body. The care could have been dislodged by the rotor wash of the helicopter.

My impression was this was a suicide given the high statistics of people that use those falls to commit suicide. They don't publish the suicide numbers to try and prevent people from doing it there but the numbers are staggering. Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me

Unfortunately, she was already dead. Now they have to figure out how to get the car out of the river before it's washed over the falls. Fr. Upon further research, it looks like she did it intentionally. You’re right, a risky rescue for the fellow on the tether. I can only imagine if he entered the car, car became unlodged, door stuck shut and they had to release the cable with the rescuer stuck inside the car. Looks like they eventually got her out but she was deceased. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
December 10, 20214 yr Latest report says it was intentional. I know my tag says New Zealand but I grew up in Ontario, therefore I grew up watching both Toronto and Buffalo News and still do. This is what I figured those falls are a hot spot for this sort of thing may she rest in peace. Not sure why they are not hooking up cables to that car to prevent it from going over those falls but at this point it seems they don't care and are going to let it go over anyways, to be honest all kinds of garbage in that river and those rocks below will pulverize that car anyways: Edited December 10, 20214 yr by Matthew Kane Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
December 11, 20214 yr How awfully sad. One can't help but wonder what the poor woman was facing that was so much more unbearable than doing that. 5800X3D - Strix X570-E - 32GB 3600Mhz DDR4 - AMD RX 9070 XT- Samsung 980 Pro x2
December 11, 20214 yr In 2009 Robin Williams said that suicide was a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Sadly, only five years later he failed to take his own advice. Stress, worry, anxiety, they can play havoc on the mind and body. My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.
December 13, 20214 yr The car has gone over the falls now, I read on the weekend the Parks Department was trying to workout how to recover it but that meant getting someone onto the car to hook it, and it was sitting around 30 feet to the edge of the falls during a bad storm. There is a phenomenon called a 'seiche' which happens when the wind blows over Lake Erie from West to East it raises the water level towards the East entering the Niagara River, and it can raise the water level in the river by about 20", therefore putting someone out there in those conditions would be far too risky. https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/seiche.html Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
