What is the best experience : FBWA32NX vs CRJ

Featured Replies

The CRJ looks better. The flightdeck is gorgeous.  However, the FBW feels much more stable to fly.  In my experience the CRJ is twitchy and unpredictable.

My first airliner in MSFS was the FBW A320. But I had a lot of stutters with the FBW A320 which spoiled it for me.

So I was happy when the CRJ came out, which was completely stutterfree. I enjoyed it very much for several weeks.

Then a sim update (SU5?) cured the stutters with the FBW A320. Since then I've been flying FBW A320 and never used the CRJ again.

I enjoy the A320 a lot more than the CRJ, which is just a personal preference. But the ongoing development of the FBW team is great and if you miss a feature you can expect it to be implemented in a few weeks or months.

So I would recommend you make a few flights with the A320 and decide for yourself.

I have both - didn’t touch the CRJ in some weeks.
The A32NX is for me the better aircraft.

FBW is miles ahead of CRJ! I mean it has some missing features like VNAV (which is coming soon), but at every other aspect, FBW is surely better!

Another vote for the FBW A320NX, it gets better every week. For me the CRJ came out, with  issues (And still has  them) and spends most of the time in the hanger now. One thing with FBW, if there's a problem it's sorted in hours, no nasty rebukes like you get on a certain forum.

Like the lack of Vnav?

I'm not in love with the CRJ yet as I were in FSX's Aerosoft CRJ.

And as you know they are working on it ... For freeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

How long have the CRJ issues been there..?

Fly in the sim everyday and what do you see? loads of FBW A320's , and your lucky if you see 1 CRJ in the whole 2-4 hrs flight. Why are the thousands sold not flying?

Well the CRJ doesn't really have VNAV. It's advisory VNAV on the CRJ 1K. The aircraft doesn't have A/T so there is that. I personally prefer the CRJ, it's a bit more hands-on than the FBW A32NX.

Right now FBW is the Zibo for MSFS and is not even close as far as airliners on this platform. Zibo is highly regarded on Xplane and some "RLP" claim it to be more accurate than the PMDG 737NGXu in P3D. FBW is striving to get to that level and for what money" no passion and I donate to their cause when I can.

the zibo > pmdg claims has never been proven. it's all xplane 11 loyalist claiming that it is.  I haven't seen any evidence it was the case.

Same could be said by PMDG loyalist claiming the 737 is to be the best thing since slice bread. One thing is for sure when I stroll through youtube and twitch channels the streamers prefer the Zibo more and these are actuall pilots to the aircraft. . Is PMDG still on the level of FSL or A2A on P3D platform?

It always depends on who you ask. Tribalism is a thing in flight sim community.  It's one of those fight that is more about favoritism than reality. Real pilot values system/failures more than FDE because they know that no flight sim can really simulate what you feel it terms of G force when you are sitting at home.  I have both the PMDG 737Ngx and the Zibo but I am not a 737 pilot so I don't think my opinion means anything in this debate.

precious time to install and setup a complex addon free or payware

Not quite in MSFS. Get the FBW installer and updating the neo is easypeasy. Seriously, since you already got the payware aircraft of the two, install the FBW and you basically get 2 for 1.

I have both, too, tend to fly the FBW more since (ouch!) is requires less actually hand flying, I mean program the FMS and let it fly which is what I need when flying at home office times with limited time to actually babysit the airplane, just taking me some minutes for takeoff and landing and in between some monitoring. Every once in a while I take the CRJ for a smaller hop but as mentioned before it requires some more than just monitoring, especially due to the (by design!) missing autothrottle, I crashed already multiple times with the CRJ  due to overspeed because I was working on a call/meeting and forgot to adjust the throttle. Never happened with the FBW…

LOL work from home has been beneficial to my simming too. Something I would have never thought of pre covid/work from home.
