Organic Seasons--consider voting if you like the concept

This is a project that would take a team and some time, but I think it could be done, and at least theoretically could be spectacular, and ultimately aligns with Asobo's focus on getting visual world very right.  I really like Bijan's seasons for what they are, but they are very limited in many ways.  The concept may not be doable, but I'd rather Asobo decide that so just hoping to plant a slow-germinating seed as it were.  Consider voting on it in the hopes it makes it to Asobo's wishlist review at some point.

Cheers

Noel

Doesn't Asobo have shader-based Seasons on the agenda already for 2022? Or is this something else?

Kind regards, Michael

Great! I obviously hadn't heard that.  Do you recall where you read that Michael?  FWIW I just posted this on their forum, got a quick 14 votes, and I don't think anyone brought that up yet.

The second "Top Wishes" chart #25. They don't mention shaders explicitely but from what I understand (and I think has been discussed somewhere) there are no alternatives to a shader-based implementation in a photo-based scenery surrounding.

Or is this something else?

Kind regards, Michael

Their snow implementation is a good sign they will use shaders for that type of feature. Also they have mentioned they want to implement seasons the right way (they’ve even talked about animal migrations).

Nothing against that developer (Bijan), but I wouldn’t consider his product a good implementation of seasons. It’s more like new tree types. Weather changes are way more comprehensive than that.

Bijans seasons look fine to me. Been flying around Alaska and Northwest Territories the last two days, and the snow and trees are fantastic.

It looks perhaps like a more generic goal, 'Seasons', versus aiming for something tied to as I mention latitude, elevation, time of year etc.  So perhaps do vote for it just in case (yeah sure!) they weren't thinking along those lines.

Cheers

It's also something that could work well when new trees/vegetation are added, such that simply by plugging in the various behaviors for that type of tree/vegetation into a reference table determining how they behave it will work well going forward with little need for customization.

Asobo/MS said in the last developer Q&A they will work on seasons, but they want to do it right, so it will take some time.....

Most of what is said on the Internet may be the same thing they shovel on the regular basis at the local barn.
