LOL don’t feel bad, I took off with a door open once😂 That’s aviation. The devil is in the details.

I learned (the hard way) to check for this little handle on the DC-6 when it ruined my 1st flight with an experienced friend in a group flight. As he lined up behind me on the runway (I spawned on it so he didn't have to teach me all the things to fly this thing...I mean, how hard could it be? LOL) ...he was he was reading the checklist from memory, and when he said "Gust lock off", I didn't really know where it was located, and of course was too proud to say I didn't have a clue where it was, so I just said "check" because I KNEW that surely the gust lock would not be on by default when you spawned on the runway😲

As you can imagine, I was able to heave her into the air near the end of the runway and knew I was in trouble as I had the yoke in my lap and barely climbing.  Naturally I thought it was a control confg issue as I slowly descended into the trees ala' the infamous Airbus demo flight. 😞   My friend asked "are you sure your gust lock was off?"...then it was confession time and I tried to rationalize to him that I assumed since I spawned on the runway, it MUST be off, LOL.  A valuable lesson that, thanks to the nature of our hobby, I emerged from the event without a scratch.

Nice work Steve!  My quick jaunt from KJSC to KLAX ...

Glad you're enjoying her Rob!   Thanks for the pics...it's always nice to see folks posting shots of your paints....It's what I call "Painter's currency" as we do this for free and our goal is to have others enjoy the effort. 🙂   You'd be surprised on how few pics I see of my paints, despite that I have a "few" out there. LoL.

In fact, this livery just made it into the 2021 release bucket by a few hours (US Central time), noted on another post, but re-announcing here in case all the simmers requesting it did not see the announcement over there:

RDfeq4.png

It's the looooooong Delta 737-900 over at the flight1 library.

@Jannier (Jannie) was online yesterday and he graciously agreed to stay on until I sent the finished paint so he could post it in 2021...please be sure to thank him as well, as he worked tirelessly managing this project.  So much happens in the background of these projects, most have no clue and just see the finished product, not what it actually took to get there.  If you look at the AOM included with the product, you'll see a credits page, a lot of folks worked long hours to bring this to you, including @Jim Harnes , the guy who wrote the excellent AOM...a shout out to all the team members who I had the privilege to work with and enjoy their dedication and whacky humor in the beta forum! 🤣

Hoping for a happy and prosperous 2022 for all my fellow Simmers!

Steve Dra

My pleasure....I like SAS...and this livery specifically.  Have not warmed up to the new livery.  Since SAS names its birds...do you have one specifically in mind while I haven't reg'd her yet?

I can't remember which one I flew on from Oslo to Stockholm back in 2015, so any one you choose will be great for me!

Coming soon to an airport near you...... (I think she looks.....say it with me....."SASSY")😆

Still a few adjustments to make then I'll send her to the Library staff for upload. 😉  She should be ready "Shortly" (hehe...remember that word...you'll see it again....soontm )  If I can find a good copy of the "Planes" movie sticker they put on this reg, I'll add it later to another, separate livery.  I mean, who doesn't like Pixar, and a movie about living planes? Hehe.

Thanks,  SAS is really not that hard to paint....and let's me show off the great effects of PBR....the Scandinavian text is metallic paint and you can see how different it looks at different times of day/ sun angle. 🙂

This effect and the "Find your next flight at:" text by the L1 door were the last few tidbits I had to take care of.  Just need to do the thumbnail graphic, package it, and send it to the flight1 library. 😉

Uploaded.  Will be available as soon as the library manager posts it.
Just click the "new" link in my sig to get to her (and all the iFly 737) paints.

Speaking of new....right now...I only have the "bandwidth" to release factory-fresh paints.  I sincerely hope to release "in-service" liveries when time allows.  This is not my only paint project (one of five actually, others will make an appearance.....soonTM ) 😉

Sadly, when researching this paint, I discovered she has since been turned into beer cans. 😞 You may be holding a can of beer right now made from her fuse. 😪

But she lives on in our sims!  (The shot below shows ...in addition to the PBR effects on the Scandinavian text, the level of detail you can add on "4K" maps (4096x4096) each...and there are 3 maps for the fuse of the 800, 4 for the 900.) The SAS Env Program and Low Emission...text is about 6pt font, and still readable. 🙂

 w3lQL6.png

Note:  She never flew with winglets, but if you enable them in the iFly config tool, you wont see the SAS on them...the winglets are tricky to paint and I just can't devote resources to painting items that can be added due to the great config tool iFly includes, but in reality was never config'd for this livery. 😉

Beautiful shot Alex!  Love how the wing light is interacting with the wing 🙂  Make sure you pan around and see how the light reflects off the Scandinavian text 😉

Sadly...if you want to fly this bird as realistically as possible, you have to pretend the date is before 3/20/2020 as that is when she was sent to the boneyard to be scrapped. 😞
