January 8, 20224 yr OK....call all your Aussie friends and help me with this.... Don't think anyone at this point is still trying to guess this is going to be a QANTAS paint....but found something interesting when grabbing the Australian flag to put on the plane, then looking closely as to how it actually appears on this particular paint (only airframe I found so far with this flag...but the nature of the paint may hold a clue as to why it has this particular star arrangement). Not wanting to spend the rest of the day researching Australian flag history....a cursory search didn't turn up anything informative, other than the star shape of the current flag is relevant (look at the difference in the amount of points between the flags). So...bottom line I'll be painting the flag with 4 stars as its actually on this livery...but I ALMOST missed it as most of the pics I needed to get good overall references of the livery we're not this close-up....and painters usually mostly just grab the current flag without even thinking about it as its right 99.99% of the time. Wonder how many simmers would even notice it if I put the current flag on? 🙂 None who've read this post obviously, but this one of those things easily missed. (Notice the stars are red with white piping in the top flag vs all white on the current flag) Glad I caught it, and looking forward to any history my fellow simmers bring to this post. One of my favorite things about painting...the research and what you learn about the plane, the country, and the livery in the process. 🙂 Regards, Steve DraGet my paints for MSFS planes at flightsim.to here, and iFly 737s hereDownload my FSX, P3D paints at Avsim by clicking here

I thought VH-VZF was the 75th Qantas Boeing 737.Edit: Just found ZK-ZQA was flown by Jetconnect (a Qantas subsidiary) and used for Trans-Tasman and domestic NZ flights. 'Stoked' that a Qantas livery is coming our way. Good on ya, cobber. 2 hours ago, Steve Dra said: I should also include a Vegemite sandwich with the paint, whatcha' think? I just found (initially) that ZQA flew the 75th logo....seems VZF did as well. I'm gonna paint ZQA, as I already have her reg'd. Waiting to see if anyone notices any error in the screen above and calls them out (on the top section, which is the left side of the plane...have not done the bottom or right side yet) 😉 1 hour ago, F737NG said: Marmite is nicer.. Muriatic acid tastes a bit better than hydrochloric acid....about the same between Vegemite and Marmite. 🙂 Thought better of my example....and should it not be blatantly obvious...both acids are POISON...they will KILL you if you "taste" them....Please don't! January 8, 20224 yr Doing an initial filght to see where are the pixels are laying when viewed in the sim. The environmentals in V5.3 are truly amazing....dawn departure.stunning. Still a lot of work to do....but making progress. 😉 I was hoping someone woulda' responded to my challenge above...I posted that shot of my Photoshop desk showing the wrong flag....did you just scroll back up and look? 🤣 I corrected it before I put it on the fuse in the sim. Awesome repaint as always...love that that front 75 year logo...

Awesome repaint as always...love that that front 75 year logo... Thanks Rob! Yeah I like the logo on the front too....very classy I'm taking her on the final paint inspection flight....when I take the time to position her at her home airport, that is a clear sign that I think she's done and I'm just taking her up one more time to see if I missed anything (you can pan around the bottom of the aircraft better at altitude, and you can bank her at various angles to check reflections and such). After this short flight (30 mins or so), barring no other issues, I'm sending her to the library. 😉 EDIT: Paint inspection flight complete...adjust some grievous errors with the window count and subsequent text alignment. I accidentally clicked on the wrong window layer during the paint process (Westjet), and of course no airline is going to let Steve have a window layout that is uniform across all the airlines (or even within their own fleet!). Just glad we can easily adjust the blanks and such (not all devs give full accommodation for this.... @rmeier knows what I'm talking about). She should be available as soon as the library mods see her and post her. Get her at my link in my sig. 😉 Edited January 9, 20224 yr by Steve Dra Regards, Steve DraGet my paints for MSFS planes at flightsim.to here, and iFly 737s hereDownload my FSX, P3D paints at Avsim by clicking here
